Delta Passenger Sprays Lysol in Cabin, Leaves Everyone Coughing

An overzealous Delta Air Lines passenger whipped out a bottle of Lysol and began spraying her seat and the area around after boarding. The consequences were felt immediately by passengers around her.

Delta Air Lines Passenger Causes Coughing Spells As She Disinfects Cabin With Lysol

A Delta passenger had the bright idea of disinfecting her seat and the area around her with Lysol cleaning spray, which carries a strong odor. As her seatmate shared:

“I put my bag under the seat in front of me. Meanwhile, she is settling back down into her middle seat. She then pulled out a spray bottle of Lysol. Now, I want to say that I am [fine] with sanitizing your own space…But, this lady sprays the air, the back of the seat in front of her, and pulls down the tray table to spray it too. People all around are coughing it was so much. What are we doing?!?”

In case you are wondering how she got a bottle of Lysol past the TSA, Lysol has sold travel-sized spays for 20 years in a 1.5 ounce size.

This story really resonated with me because just a week ago there was a guy who walked into the sauna in my gym–while I was sitting there with others–and started spraying Lysol above the hot stones. The smell was so strong (and felt so toxic) I had to abandon the sauna.

Several guys scolded him and he shrugged and said, “Smells nice.”

No, dude. Lysol is not eucalyptus oil!

And so I can certainly imagine how this went down on the plane. Lysol is worse than cheap perfume and that smell is absolutely nauseating.

I also think it’s fine to clean your seats and tray table…bring unscented wipes onboard but it’s over-the-top rude to start spraying anything onboard, let alone Lysol…ugh.

To this woman and other valetudinarians (people who are unduly anxious about their health), don’t be rude!

There’s a fine line between cautious and chemical warfare…

People who have sprayed insecticide have poisoned themselves. She is an idiot. Even more so if she wasn’t wearing a N95 mask, which offers better protection than excessive spraying

Let me guess, he was wearing a mask too.

The MSDS (material safety data sheet) for lysol states it is dangerous to heat above 130°. This is not an appropriate product for sauna rocks.

This story is very timing since just this past weekend I had dinner at my neighbor’s house who happens to be a top purser for Delta. Anyone that loves airlines should have been in that dinner as he shared so many amazing stories from his almost 30 years of working for Delta. One story is very similar to this one but the passenger was even more stupid. According to him, the passenger got into Delta One and spent a good 15 minutes wiping her entire seat and surrounding areas with Lysol wipes. He said the woman was so methodic that it was a “cleaning show” to all business class passengers. Of course she had a N95 mask on and was wearing protective gloves to ensure her protection. And just to be clear, there were no mask enforcements at this time. Flight took off and mid flight the same passenger leaves her seat to go to the bathroom. Barefoot!!! Yes, no shoes, no socks, just plain barefoot on the filthy floor of the airplane and bathroom while wearing a mask. He said he shook his head in disbelief but he was not surprised after basically seeing it all in 30 years of dealing with weird people on planes.

That’s hilarious – I’ve walked into those lavatories with socks before, but only the disposable ones in the amenity kits.

      Ugh… barefoot!

LOL socks wet with urine from the floor isn’t any better than going barefoot. Put your shoes on if going to the lavatories. Simples.

I have tried to remember that! Why don’t they make those socks with. ” water proof “(yeah sure) soles. Guys just sit down to pee.

Did she use the Lysol spray effective against Clostridium Difficile?

No C-diff in your poo-poo is only killed with a 5-minute wipe-down with BLEACH, I think.

Probably triple vaxxed and demanded people wear masks while hiking in the woods.

Reminds me of someone who sprays fluff on internet, leaves everyone coughing.

But I guess Lysol unanimously doesn’t get a hall pass.
