Delta announced plans to begin shuttle service this June between LaGuardia and O’Hare.
Highlights:
- 11 r/ts daily (on the hour)
- Flights will depart from LGA’s Marine Air Terminal
- Flights will be operated by Compass Air, using two-cabin ERJ-175s (12 First Class, 64 Economy seats)
- Meals in First Class, complimentary bagels in Economy on flights before 10:00a and free wine and Sam Adam’s beer all day
My question is whether this new service will change the way UA operates its Business1 flights between ORD and LGA. UA will be operating 17 non-stop flights daily this summer, 14 of the 17 on mainline. Last year, UA replaced full meals in First Class on that route with a fruit and cheese plate. Economy passengers are not treated differently than any other two-hour United flight. I don’t think this will change.
I do think we’ll see some cheap prices on the route from both airlines (and AA) in the near future.
DL will be abandoning its current Delta Connection service from Chicago Midway to LGA.
