Two so-called mistake fares. One mega trip.
It was a hard-fought battle, but eventually I prevailed and successfully reinstated my discounted business class ticket on Ethiopian Airlines. Soon thereafter, Qatar Airways published an amazing business class fare between Ho Chi Minh City and New York. Stitching the two legs together, I would fly to SE Asia on Ethiopian and return on Qatar.
The trip turned into an adventure that took me to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
If you recall, I made a deal with Ethiopian Airlines: I traded Bangkok to Addis Ababa to Toronto for Dublin to Los Angeles. That allowed me to get home from Europe (I flew Lufthansa First Class in the other direction) and added a new route to review.
I’ll start the trip report with the Dublin to Los Angeles segment then pick up with the week-long adventure of flying from Toronto to Addis Ababa to Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City to Doha to New York…all without (barely) stopping between flights.
