After years of being the only legacy carrier in the United States not to offer additional perks to their million-miler fliers, US Airways has finally announced their intent to recognize that monumental threshold.
The benefits won’t be great–you’ll only get lowest-tier (silver) status and only actual miles flown on US Airways count–but hey, something is better than nothing.
With many reports that US Airways has been employing StarNet blocking and the chance that US could devalue their award redemption charts at anytime, I would steer clear pursuing lifetime status with them unless you must fly them often. At least for now, United Airlines still offers lifetime Premier Executive (Star Gold) status as well as three systemwide upgrades and two regional upgrades each year for their million-mile fliers. Continental only offers Star Silver status, but for you and for a companion.
