Three Filet Mignons in 24 Hours on Lufthansa

Matthew Klint Posted onJuly 16, 2018November 14, 2023 11 Comments

One of the joys of Lufthansa’s first class lounges are the excellent dining choices in Munich and Frankfurt.

I’ve written before about enjoying a filet mignon for breakfast in the Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt. A filet with French Fries and salad is one of my favorite meals no matter the time of day, and filets from Lufthansa never disappoint.

So on our recent trip home from Germany, we arrived at the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt about three hours early. As usual, our steak was superb:

a plate of food on a table

a bowl of french fries

We took off for Munich, expecting to directly connect to Los Angeles with no time for the first class lounge. But as it turned out, we got stranded. While an agent worked on our new itineraries from the first class lounge in Munich, we had a second round of steak:

a plate of food on a table

a piece of steak and a cherry tomato on a plate

a plate of salad on a table

The filet in Munich is not as good as Frankfurt, but still excellent.

We returned to Frankfurt, spent the night at the Hyatt Regency Mainz, then flew to LA nonstop the following day.

Which of course meant another round of steaks in the First Class Terminal the following morning:

a plate of food on a table

a piece of meat on a white plate

a salad in a bowl

CONCLUSION

It’s rather ironic. One of my favorite things about the Hyatt Regency Mainz is the breakfast. But we skipped it two days in a row for a steak in the First Class Terminal.

Tomorrow I will wrap up my latest trip report with a review of Lufthansa Business Class from Frankfurt to Los Angeles as well as a review of the “old” First Class Lounge in Munich.

Did you have meat sweats on the flight back?

No meat sweat, even after the veal I had on the flight.

I can vaguely understand eating beef , from a beast of some age. Wouldn’t do it myself but maybe it’s ok for some. OTOH, eating veal is completely unacceptable; these are tiny, sweet, suckling babies , ripped away from their mothers to be killed and consumed. Up to you, it’s your conscience.

Expected to find some nasty comments from “meat is bad” battalion.

My only criticism is that I wish you would have taken/posted photos of the steak cut, so we could see the meat. I’m drooling just imagining it. :p
