I really enjoyed my visit to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge in Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and the reason can be summed up in two words: garlic bread. Actually, this lounge has a lot of excellent food and is worth a stop, especially if you are hungry. Here’s my full review.
Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Taipei Review (TPE)
I visited the Singapore Lounge before heading over the EVA Lounge ahead of my long journey from Taipei to Chicago.
Hours + Access + Location
The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge is located in Terminal 2 of TPE, after passport control on Level 4. After clearing immigration and security, head upstairs to the lounge level where several airline lounges are clustered together. The SilverKris Lounge is down a short hallway near Starbucks.

Singapore Airlines currently lists the lounge as open daily from 8:20 am to 5:45 pm, which is clearly designed around Singapore Airlines’ own Taipei departures. If you are departing later in the evening, the lounge will be closed.
Access is available to Singapore Airlines and Star Alliance business class and first class passengers, as well as Star Alliance Gold members departing on a Star Alliance flight, regardless of service class. Star Alliance Gold members may bring one guest, provided the guest is departing on the same flight.
In my case, I was flying EVA business class from Taipei to Chicago and had access by virtue of my Star Alliance Gold status and as a business class passenger.
Seating
As you enter the lounge there is a corridor with seating leading into the main part of the lounge, which is one large room with a seating and dining area together.

You’ll have to search a bit to find electrical plugs (110 volt) in this lounge, the only downside to the seating area.
Food + Drink
Admittedly, I was hungry but I really liked the food in this lounge, which included:
- Bak Kut Teh
- Herbal chicken soup
- “Purple rice dessert soup with red bean and longan”
- Creamy pumpkin soup
- Steamed vegetables
- Stir-fried vermicelli with vegetables
- Braised baby cabbage with mushrooms and tofu
- Steamed fish filet with spring onions
- Mexican-style chicken
- Black pepper pork
- Yogurt
- Fruit
- Sandwiches
- Cake

Mexican chicken? I had to try that. It was more like “Asian” chicken (the sauce was sweet) but it was pretty good and I enjoyed the salad and the Taiwanese braised pork with rice.

But most of all, I enjoyed the garlic bread. I tend to avoid bread in my diet, but who cares resist rich and creamy garlic bread form Singapore Airlines. This was the same bread (or very similar) to what is served onboard Singapore Airlines and I LOVED that there was a toaster oven to heat up the garlic bread. I may have had 1, 2, 3, 4 slices. The garlic bread is reason enough to visit this lounge.

Someone had told me to look for braised pork ribs in this lounge, but sadly I did not see any…then I realized when writing this that the Bak Kut Teh had pork ribs in it. Darn, another reason to return to this lounge.
Drinks include a self-serve bar, soda fountain, and coffee machine:
- Soft drinks
- Beer, wine, and basic spirits
- Juice
- Coffee
- Tea

Restrooms + Showers
The lounge has gendered restrooms and shower facilities (two shower suites that also have a toilet).

Newspaper + Magazines
There are some print edition magazines available in the lounge, but also a library of newspapers and magazines available digitally when connected to the lounge’s Wi-Fi network.

CONCLUSION
I arrive hungry and left satisfied…kudos to Singapore Airlines’ TPE SilverKris lounge for the excellent food selection. The lounge gets full prior to Singapore departures, but not so full that you cannot find a seat. While I don’t think the EVA lounges are bad at TPE, this lounge is my favorite Star Alliance Lounge at the airport.
