Turkish Airlines is celebrating the grand opening of its Washington Dulles lounge today. My brother Andrew happened to be flying through IAD today and provided the following feedback:
The lounge is great! A bubbling Turkish man warmly welcomed me into the lounge with a glass of champagne and beamed with pride as I remarked how nice the lounge looked. He would check in with me often during my stay to make sure I was comfortable.
The lounge is not huge, but large enough; divided into seating, work, and dining areas. The food selection was not as expansive as in the July 15 Heroes of Democracy Lounge in Istanbul or even the nearby Lufthansa Senator Lounge, but still of high quality and really hit the spot this afternoon.
In addition to a number of cold items, two kinds of soup were offered: tomato and lentil. Additionally, a delicious hot pastry filled with spinach and cheese and the famous freshly baked bread available in the Istanbul lounge is also available.
The lounge has separate bathrooms and a single unisex shower.
The lounge is provisioned to directly board the Turkish Airlines flight from Gate B41 but I was told Turkish has not received permission yet for direct boarding so the door is sealed for now.
Oh, and the internet is very fast:
Lounge hours are from 5:00 am until 11:59 pm seven days per week, making this a huge benefit to Star Alliance Gold and international business class passengers traveling through Dulles. Remember, you can access this lounge with a United Airline Star Gold card (Premier Gold, Platinum, or 1K status) no matter where you are flying and no matter what the cabin — as long as you are flying on Star Alliance. Flying to Dulles to Philadelphia flight in economy? No problem, you will be welcomed into the lounge.
I will get to this lounge soon and provide a more comprehensive review, but I can already see that this may well be my new favorite lounge in Washington Dulles.
D’oh — I was just at Dulles a few hours ago, didn’t even think to show up early to check this out. Thanks for the photos. Looks great though I’ll prefer the food in the Senator lounge.
Thanks for the review. I will try this out in a few weeks. What champagne are they serving? (Recently, unless in First, the Senator lounge has been serving Anna Cordonieu – and you have to ask for it, it is not sitting out.)

Might be a stupid question but I have both AMEXP and CSR which both offer PP. Do I have to have a same-day Turkish Airlines ticket to utilize this lounge? Or just any airline same-day ticket?
Any same-day boarding pass will work. Enjoy!
