Hidden Clues From United Airlines Mapped Out

I don’t know about you, but I loved the teaser video United Airlines released ahead of its big international route announcements earlier this week. Now we can go back and see what we missed…or in some cases properly recognized.

The Hidden Clues Revealed In United Airlines Teaser Video

Here’s the original teaser video from United:

After the route announcement, United released a follow-up video which identified some of the hidden clues in the teaser video:

Some were fairly obvious, like the number 4093 next to the lei, representing the distance in nautical miles from Newark to Maui, or the number 234, representing the country code for Nigeria.

Others were not so easily discernible. For example, a message on a post-it note read, “New traveler, your journey begins.” From that, we were supposed to pull out what I bolded, EWR-JNB. Come on…

Or this:

What do we pull from it? Take the numbers diagonally starting in the upper left and you get 8,701, the number of miles between San Francisco and Bangalore.

The 10 55? I thought the 55 signified the country code for Brazil, but it really just signified the 10 hour, 55 minute journey from Newark to Maui.

CONCLUSION

I provide a full rundown of the new United international additions here and Hawaiian longhauls here. In terms of promos, I love gimmicks like this…perhaps I have too much time on my hands?

How did you do in identifying the hidden clues?

The video and speculation it brought afterwards were a lot more interesting than the actual announcement.

Been stranded on guam for months! Need to return to sydney/brisbane australia. Will united be flying to guam? Can I connect from guam to Hawaii and get back to australia? Am on a disability pension so I can’t afford outrageous fares.
