Before my flight to Newark last Saturday I spent about an hour in the Fort Lauderdale United Club. It served its purpose nicely.
As you might expect on a Saturday afternoon in Florida, the airport was packed. Thus, the United Club was a welcome oasis. As I entered the club, an agent told warned me this was just a temporary club that had no restrooms. No big deal, but I wonder how temporary this club really is. It was in the same place when I visited last September. As you can see below, it is one of the nicer looking United Clubs. Though small, there is room for 30-40 and plenty of power ports. Furniture is new and well-maintained. Internet is fast.
If you’re hungry, there are snacks including soup, salad, cheese, crackers, veggies, and whole fruits. It’s not really a meal, but still a respectable snack. A lounge staff member will serve you espresso drinks (from a machine), soft drinks, or alcohol from the bar. Coffee is self-serve.
Newspapers and magazines are available and if you run into delays or cancellations, the staff at the front desk can help you rebook. The lounge is open daily from 5:o0a.m. to 7:30p.m.
CONCLUSION
I liked this lounge, particularly because the gate area was so crowded and loud. The lounge never got so crowded as to be uncomfortable.
You pay ~$450/year to United Clubs eh? Even as a 1k I dont see this as worth it…
I do not. I used a one-time pass at FLL and usually have access in EWR because I am flying in premium service.
Nice review, as always, Matthew! That’s the first time I’ve seen that exterior signage (outside the doors, on the left) with the globe/swoosh motif… very interesting
