The United Club in London Heathrow Terminal 2 has reopened; the first United Club to open outside the United States since the pandemic started.

United Club in London Heathrow Reopens

United Airlines has four airport lounges outside the United States, including in:

  • Hong Kong (HKG)
  • London Heathrow (LHR)
  • Mexico City (MEX)
  • Tokyo Narita (NRT)

All four lounges were closed in March 2020 and have not been open since. But this week, the United Club in London Heathrow has reopened.

The lounge is now open daily from 6:30am to 9:00pm. Located in The Queen’s Terminal (Terminal 2), a full spread of food is available and shower suites are also available. Social distancing precautions are encouraged inside the lounge, but the lounge looks much like before the pandemic.

A United spokesperson confirmed:

“We are so pleased to offer our premium customers access to our Heathrow lounge once again. I know just how much our customers appreciate this fantastic lounge. Our lounge experience provides comfort and relaxation, as well as excellent food and drink, shower facilities and workspace.”

This happens to be my favorite United Club in the system. With great staff and (at least before the pandemic) a great spread of food, I always looked forward to visiting this lounge and in some ways preferred it to the nearby Singapore Airlines SilverKris and Air Canada Maple Leaf lounges.

United becomes the last Star Alliance lounge to reopen at London Heathrow, with the Air Canada, Singapore, and Lufthansa lounges already reopened.

CONCLUSION

United Airlines has reopened is first overseas lounge, the United Club in London Heathrow. Just in time for omicron, hopefully the lounge still stay open and not close once again…

Matthew, any predictions on the Polaris Lounge SFO reopening? I thought there was some speculation about the 2nd or 3rd of January? Guessing this could again be delayed due to the additional Omicron restrictions potentially reducing traffic in SFO.

This is my favourite lounge too. In the morning they have a full English breakfast buffet! Yum!

Not before time, other lounges have been open for months. It’s only a pity that this lounge is so much better than other United lounges – showing what they can do when they try but then at LHR the competition is strong.

Superb timing! I am on a TAP flight out of LHR tomorrow evening and I was wondering whether it would be worth walking across to the SQ lounge to avoid the miserable Lufthansa experience. Lounge hopping and a shower thrown in, result!

I was there yesterday … excellent as it’s always been. Great staff and a good breakfast after a long, early drive to Heathrow. I’m glad it’s open again.

Any word on if/when the UA first class lounge at LHR will open? You are right, it is the best UA overseas lounge. But I’ve been avoiding LHR, in favor of FRA, because of the high taxes and taxes on my upgrades.

I agree, LHR is far and away the best UA lounge anywhere.

Agree this is a great non-Polaris lounge.

Was the GS/VIP lounge connected to the UA Heathrow lounge also reopened or still shuttered?

great news that the lounge is open!!! does anybody know if you need any kind of test (pcr/rapid) in order to be allowed entrance (like SlivewrKris does) or is it like the old days?

I was asked for a test to enter SQ lounge…would imagine UA lounge would be the same.
