Air France Returns To Dallas (Great Deal Using Miles)

Air France will return to Dallas for the first time since 2001.

The French carrier will offer 3x to 5x weekly seasonal summer service, deploying a retrofitted A330 on the route with the latest in-cabin product.

The A330 will include:

36 seats in business class
21 seats in premium economy
167 seats in economy class

AF150: departs Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 10:10 A.M., arrives in Dallas at 1:50 P.M
AF159: departs Dallas at 3:45 P.M., arrives at Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 8:15 A.M. +1 day

From March 31^thto June 30^th and from September 4^th to October 25^th 2019: flights operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
From July 1^st to September 1st: flights operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays

Putting an aircraft with the latest onboard product was not a true choice considering that Air France will compete against American Airlines, which not only has an entrenched customer base, but also has lie-flat seats in business class throughout its fleet.

Award space has already been loaded on the new route, at least for Flying Blue members. On many days, you’ll see absolutely outlandish prices for business class tickets but premium economy and economy class selling at roughly the same price.

But travel the next day and business class is cheaper than premium economy class…

Remember, Flying Blue uses variable award pricing, so those prices will change often and vary depending upon your connection (or lack thereof) in Europe.

Finally, note that many days do have 9+ business class award seats available, which is a great way to get to Europe. This space is not showing up on Delta yet, so you will need to call to book it.

CONCLUSION

Air France last flew to Dallas for about eight months in 2001. After the 9/11 attacks, however, the carrier suspended service. The great Dallas/Fort Worth area includes over 100 French-owned companies, so the new route is likely to do well.
