American Airlines Expands Partnership With Apple

Starting this month, you can catch your favorite Apple TV+ shows for free on American Airlines, marking a deepening partnership between American and Apple.

American Airlines Offers Free Apple TV+ Streaming

In February 2019, American Airlines began offering free inflight Apple Music streaming. That service, however, is limited to Apple Music subscribers and only available on flights equipped with ViaSat Wi-Fi.

Now American is expanding that partnership with Apple by offering all passengers, not just subscribers, access to Apple TV+ programming. Apple TV+ is a subscription-based, ad-free service that offers Apple original shows and movies. Original productions available onboard include:

  • The Morning Show
  • Defending Jacob
  • Dickinson
  • For All Mankind
  • Ghostwriter
  • Helpsters
  • Home Before Dark
  • Little America
  • Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet
  • Oprah’s Book Club
  • Snoopy in Space

A full listing can be found here. American Airlines will rotate content each month.

The announcement is more valuable for new or casual viewers than subscribers, as the subscribers can already download content of offline viewing.

CONCLUSION

American recently suspended live TV streaming (on a temporary basis, it claims), making this announcement even more timely. So many series I end up watching I have first discovered on flights, even if I have access to them at home. I look forward to checking out Apple TV+ content on American.

Do you plan to watch Apple TV+ content on American Airlines?

By suspending live TV streaming, do you mean not allowing passengers to stream video content on their own devices while connected to in-flight Wi-Fi? As opposed to watching video content hosted on the aircraft? I’m not familiar with what you’re referring to.

Either way, this sounds like a great way to expose passengers to some excellent content. I’ve really enjoyed some of the Apple TV+ stuff.
