Hilton Hotel Cancels ICE Agents’ Reservations, Sparks DHS Backlash And Corporate Damage Control

A controversy involving a Hilton-branded hotel in Minnesota is drawing national attention after federal immigration agents alleged their reservations were canceled because of their affiliation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The incident has prompted responses from the Department of Homeland Security, the hotel’s franchise owner, and Hilton corporate, highlighting the often-murky divide between brand policy and franchise-level decision making.

Hilton Franchise Cancels ICE Agents’ Reservations, Corporate Says It Was Not Company Policy

The issue surfaced after ICE personnel reported that reservations at a Hampton Inn by Hilton in the Minneapolis area were abruptly canceled. According to screenshots shared publicly by the Department of Homeland Security, the hotel informed guests that it had identified an influx of government reservations linked to DHS and stated that if travelers were associated with DHS or immigration enforcement, their bookings would not be honored.

The Department of Homeland Security responded forcefully on social media, accusing the hotel of refusing service to federal law enforcement officers and suggesting the situation was tantamount to Mary and Joseph being turned away from the inn in Bethlehem. In a widely shared post, DHS claimed that ICE agents attempting to book rooms using official government email addresses and rates had their reservations “maliciously cancelled,” framing the situation as a targeted denial of lodging.

And yes, the alleged emails makes clear that this was a targeted cancelling.

“This email is in regards to the reservation you made with the Hampton Inn Lakeville property.

“We have noticed an influx of GOV reservations made today that have been for DHS, and we are not allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at our property. If you are with DHS or immigration, let us know as we will have to cancel your reservation.

“Please pass on this info to your coworkers that we are not allowing any immigration agents to house on our property.”

Another email said, “After further investigation online, we have found information about immigration work connected with your name and we will be cancelling your upcoming reservation. You should see a proper cancellation email in your inbox shortly from Hilton.”

Hilton Corporate And Franchise Owner In Full Damage Control Mode

Hilton corporate moved quickly to distance itself from the incident. In a public statement, Hilton emphasized that the Hampton Inn in question is independently owned and operated and that the actions taken were inconsistent with Hilton’s policies and values. Hilton said it does not discriminate against guests based on profession or affiliation and confirmed it was looking into the matter. The company reiterated that Hilton works regularly with government agencies and law enforcement and that its hotels are intended to be welcoming to all lawful travelers.

“We have been in direct contact with the hotel, and they have apologized for the actions of their team, which was not in keeping with their policies.”

Hilton later added it was cutting ties with the property:

The franchise owner, Everpeak Hospitality, also issued a statement acknowledging the situation and apologizing for how it was handled. Everpeak said the decision to cancel reservations was not aligned with its own standards and confirmed that it had reached out to affected guests to help ensure alternative accommodations were secured. The company stated that it does not discriminate against any individuals or government agencies.

However, DHS shot back that it had not actually heard from Everpeak:

I wonder how Everpeak Hospitality has “moved swiftly to address this matter” when @DHSgov and @ICEgov haven’t heard anything from them? https://t.co/FBcFIiL9Ds

The incident underscores a key reality of the U.S. hotel industry: many major hotel brands operate primarily through franchise agreements. While brands like Hilton set overarching standards and policies, day-to-day operational decisions are often made at the property level. When those decisions conflict with corporate expectations, brand leadership may intervene after the fact, as appears to be the case here.

The timing of the cancellations coincided with a significant federal law enforcement presence in the Twin Cities area, where DHS and ICE personnel have been deployed in connection with ongoing so-called “enforcement actions.” That context may help explain the sudden surge in government bookings that triggered the hotel’s response…

As with most things political these days, reactions are deeply divided along partisan lines, with many praising the franchise for pushing back against ICE raids while many others have vowed to boycott Hilton for “harboring rapists and murders” and inhibiting law enforcement.

CONCLUSION

The cancellation of ICE agents’ reservations at a Hilton-branded property has sparked debate about discrimination, brand accountability, and the limits of franchise autonomy. While the initial emails suggested a deliberate effort by a local hotel to refuse lodging to federal immigration personnel, Hilton’s corporate response makes clear that such actions do not reflect company policy. Even so, a chunk of the MAGA world has already determined that Hilton should be subject to the same boycott treatment Bud Light was.

If Everspeak is honest about the cancellations being inconsistent with their policy, then you have to assume it was a rogue employee who made the cancellations and sent the e-mails. I can understand why Everspeak wouldn’t want to identify the individual, but they would have been better resolved by explaining that’s what happened and that “disciplinary actions were taken”. At the end of the day, any online mob (left or right wing) is just looking for a scalp to claim.

I believe this was a rogue employee but in the end Hilton will pay the price with some boycotting them. I do wonder how this is addressed in the franchise agreement and can Hilton deflag this particular unit or even terminate Everpeak totally? Though that would also be costly if they have a large amount of units.

Either way it may show the damage one person can do on either side by mixing their ideology into their job. Look for lots of damage control and wasted money on it by Hilton.

Another way to look at it is that these things are happening because of the inhumane actions of DHS and ICE agents. If you live in one of these communities you better expect that many people are going to get angry and find ways to retaliate. ICE, National Guard, and everything happening in this country is not sustainable. As more communities get affected the cancellation of hotel reservations will be the least of their problems.

No the actions of ICE are 100% justified.
        Illegals must go.
This isn’t the biden era that enabled the worst migrant crisis in history.

The law is being enforced and these invaders have to go back. It will only get worse for them as more and more ICE agents are brought online.

Illegals should live in fear as should those who enable them (Traitor lefties).

Beliebe me it will ne sustainable. Its only been a year since this administration has been in office and the checks and balances are finally being put back in place. 3 or more years to go so yes a lot can be done in that much time.

This is exactly why I would NOT want to stay in a hotel that encourages the business of ICE and deportation. Guests should enjoy a peaceful environment without weaponry and threats. Let the greatest builder house them in tents or barracks, not among families. The days of MAGA BOYCOTT BULLYING being effective are over. Threaten all you want, nobody cares.

“Reached out to affected guests to help ensure alternative accommodations were secured.” Why alternative accommodations? If they really want to make things right, then just reinstate their reservations at the same hotel. It seems Hilton and Everspeak have both denounced this action, so this seems to be the work of a rogue GM who’s letting his personal biases get the best of him.

Conservatives were quite pleased when the Supreme Court ruled that businesses could refuse service to whoever they didn’t like such as a gay couple wanting a bakery to make them a wedding cake. So now, conservatives are upset because the same behavior is being done to people that they support? I guess they can’t have their cake and eat it too! So suck it, losers!

Lefty losers like yourself don’t understand that case. As is most things its complicated for your small brains.
Your entire worldview is based off emotions and feelings rather than logic and reasons. It’s why every0ne sees you as the jokes you are.

The deportations will continue and you can’t stop them. Wish we could start deporting American “citizens” such as yourself.

We’re the majority and the majority supports the rule of law. The lawlessness of the biden era is over. The American people are sick of the biden migrants and want them gone. You people just cant understand that your way of thinking has and continues to be rejected by the MAJORITY.

Good, I hope the Hilton brand gets slammed. If they would STOP FRANCHISING to no-name third parties, maybe this will stop. If you’re going to have your Hilton brand logo on a hotel then HILTON SHOULD OWN IT/ RUN IT, etc. Just another cheap way to fool people – scamming at it’s best.
