LA to Vegas: New FOX Series starring “Jackpot Airlines”

Matthew Klint Posted onJanuary 2, 2018January 2, 2018 3 Comments

I appreciate good and clean humor…especially aviation-related. While I’m not sure about the clean part, a new FOX series called LA to Vegas premieres tonight and looks hilarious.

Perhaps you should start by watching the trailer:

After watching that, especially the last few seconds, I’m not sure I need to add any more more to this post…

But I’ll say a few words. We just celebrated the safest year in aviation on record. I can appreciate that some may object to poking fun at pilots drinking and getting high on the job, but I can laugh at this in the context of the fictional setting.

The series centers on Jackpot Airlines, a fictitious budget airline that flies exclusively between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I’d say the airline looks suspiciously like Spirit Airlines…

Captain Dave is played by Dylan McDermott and he seems to have a drinking problem. FA drama also ensues.

Here are a couple other teasers:

Remember LAX?

Remember LAX, the 2004-05 drama starring Blair Underwood and Heather Locklear? That was my first introduction to aviation-related television programming. The series descended from hilarity into a rather depressing soap-opera drama.

Let’s hope LA to Vegas does not suffer a similar fate.

Will you be watching tonight? I don’t have a TV in my house, but I’ll pull it up online when I get a chance this week…

FOX had the pilot on Hulu last week for a short period of time. I thought it was pretty funny. Hopefully they can keep it up!
