I’ve written about JANET before, the “secret” government airline that transports workers to highly-classified government facilities. The airline is now hiring FAs! But this won’t be a standard job interview…

JANET, more formally known as the “Joint Air Network for Employee Transportation” is hiring for the first time in eight years. The airline is based in Las Vegas and flies workers to sensitive government installations in windowless 737s.

Like most FA positions, you’ll need a high school degree to apply. You’ll also need U.S. citizenship and to pass basic FA safety training.

But that’s not all. You’ll also need a top secret clearance.

Securing one will require an extensive background check probing your:

  • Allegiance to the United States
  • Foreign influence
  • Foreign preference
  • Sexual behavior
  • Personal conduct
  • Financial considerations
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Drug involvement
  • Emotional, mental, and personality disorders
  • Criminal conduct
  • Security violations
  • Outside activities
  • Misuse of information technology systems

Want to apply? You can apply here.

CONCLUSION

You don’t have to be a secret agent to hold a top-secret and highly-sought-after job for the U.S. government. You can just be a FA…

Remember, JANET went eight years without hiring, so this may be a very limited window. More details on the position, including specific duties, here.

AECOM bought the defense contractor who operates JANET. So yes technically you would work for a defense contractor to the USAF.

Why would they case a government airline in Las Vegas of all places?!? Wouldn’t DC be a slightly more logical idea?

The airline usually operates to carry government employees back and forth from the top secret bases in the Nevada desert (think Area 51, for example)
