Star Alliance Lounge LAX Has Reopened!

I am elated to report that the Star Alliance Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has now reopened and continues to offer exceptional comfort and tasty food and drink in a tranquil environment.

Star Alliance Lounge LAX Now Reopened

The news caught me by surprise, to be honest. While Turkish Airlines has added a second-daily flight to Los Angeles and SWISS has re-introduced its nonstop service, I figured it might be some time before the lounge re-opened, but it is now open daily (times vary, according to the schedule below).

  • Sunday — 7:00am – 1:00am
  • Monday — 9:00am – 1:00am
  • Tuesday — 9:00am – 1:00am
  • Wednesday — 7:00am – 1:00am
  • Thursday — 7:00am – 1:00am
  • Friday — 9:00am – 1:00am
  • Saturday — 7:00am – 1:00am

I stopped by this morning and was pleased to see that little has changed (the olive trees on the patio have grown more mature…I love it).

As for food/drink, the breakfast selection was lovely and I enjoyed a decent cappuccino and croissant with fresh fruit and later some eggs, bacon, and sausage.

As I was leaving, lunch was added, which included Asian-themed dishes. The full noodle bar will be returning soon, but for now it is just packaged noodles and hot water.

New hygiene measures include:

  • Contactless entry
  • Social distancing
  • Mandatory masks (unless eating or drinking)
  • Hand sanitizing stations
  • Surfaces disinfected frequently (I witnessed this over my three hour visit)

And as you can see by the pictures, the lounge was empty until about 10:00am and never filled up even ahead of the afternoon ANA, Turkish, and Singapore flights.

This lounge has won many accolades and awards, and rightfully so–it’s one of my favorite business class lounges in the world and architecturally stunning. The first class lounge has also re-opened.

You can read my full review of the lounge here (and separate first class lounge here), but stay tuned for a refreshed review later this week.

Bottom line, it is great to have this lounge open once again.

Hi Matthew, We are flying from LAX to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines on business class. We are arriving early in the morning into LAX from Las Vegas and leaving later that same day.
Since we are flying business class, do you know if we get free access to the Star Alliance lounge before the flight?

Hi Kim, yes you will have access. Enjoy!

Looks great. Am I right in thinking that as a UA Million Miler (hence Star Gold), I can use this anytime I’m flying out of LA on a star alliance carrier?

Can you access the lounge when flying domestically? Never understood whether or not this is possible? I got TAP gold thru a promotion some time ago…if I am flying United say to EWR or IAD would I be allowed in, and is it possible to get from the domestic terminal to the lounge?

Excellent coverage, I heard about the reopening too but details were scare. This lounge is pretty much back to 2019 levels, awesome.

Just curious why the lounge is open until 1 AM these days. There is not even a daily NZ flight and it departs around 10 pm. Which other carriers have late departures. Certainly not LX, LH, SK and NH. Avianca?

This is also a oneworld and SkyTeam lounge – I didn’t look at the flight schedules, but I would imagine there must be some late-night flights.

Qantas lounges at LAX were supposed to open this month, but with omicron and Australia pulling back a bit, I doubt it.

I found out that Qatar and BA specifically have been using the *A lounge. They probably give an invitation at check-in. Also the latest *A flight is 23:45 on Avianca and the lounge effectively closes at 23:15.

Frequent traveler with star alliances before Covid. Recently to Los Angeles and on 30 December 2021 took Ana nippon airlines. Great lounge great airline. Unfortunately I misplaced my cellphone and realized before takeoff. Is there any website in star alliances with loss and found. Or any emails address in Los Angeles star alliances lounge. Appreciate your reply

    Dear Matthew,

I am flying on SIA from SIN to LAX and then have a layover (then will be flying out of Terminal 6). After arriving at LAX, is it possible to go to the Star Alliance Lounge or do I need to exit US immigration upon arrival (and hence not able to go to the Star Alliance Lounge)? I prefer Star Alliance Lounge over the lounges in Terminal 6.

By the way, do you know how I can contact the LAX Star Alliance Lounge (any phone or email)?

    Thank you so much!

      Hi Ray,

If you are connecting on a Star carrier in business class or have Star Gold status, you will have access to the lounge. Either way, as LAX will be your first port of entry, you will have to clear immigration upon arrival from SIN. You’ll clear in the Tom Bradley terminal and can proceed to the security entrance I outline below to reach the gate area once again and visit the lounge. When you are done, you can walk on the secure side all the way to T6 for your onward departure. I do agree this will be a better choice than either the United Club (T7) or Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (T6).

I do not have contact details for the Star Alliance Lounge, but you might wish to try Twitter.

Which is better Star Alliance or Polaris Lounge? I have access to both on upcoming flight on United LAX to Tokyo. Is there time to do both lounges? I have been to *A before and it was just ok.

Polaris much better dining, though the Star Alliance lounge space is more beautiful, especially the two terraces.

    Greetings from Santa Barbara,
We are flying Virgin Atlantic Upper Class from LAX to Heathrow in May this year (2023). Will we have access to the lounge? If so, which one? TIA for the 411!

While you won’t have access to this lounge, you will have access to the Delta Lounge, which is lovely. Enjoy your trip!
