Hello from Honolulu. I’ve missed blogging the last week, but the time off has been refreshing.
Both Tokyo and Seoul were great cities and I look forward to returning to both places, though especially Seoul so that I can take my trip to the DMZ.
I just got off a rather mediorce flight on UA’s retrofitted 777 from Tokyo to Honolulu and am now going to head over to Waikiki for a couple hours before an afternoon flight to Los Angeles and redeye to Boston.
Last night I flew from Seoul to Tokyo Narita on an Asiana 747 and was upgraded from business class to first class. The great seat coupled with a good meal (on a flight under two hours) and excellent service made me instantly fall in love with Asiana. My next international award trip will include a segment in OZ F.
Aloha!
Congrats on the op-up. It’s such a slap in the face to go from an Asian carrier to United Airlines, isn’t it?!
FRA-ICN is pretty easy to get in F.
I do love Asiana’s meal service, their amenities, and the deplaning gift for long haul F…
I’d agree with Asiana F on all fronts – a great service, and just on the rare occasion, you get the cabin to near enough yourself (well excluding the reserve pilot ;))
Put it like this – I’d certainly burn more BMI miles to head from FRA-ICN with Asiana.
@Darren: Sadly it is. The UA FA distributing meals on my NRT-HNL flight said exactly three words to me with a frown on his face: “chicken or beef?”
That was it…and the meal was horrible. (though this was economy)
Looking forward to OZ F in September. My wife and I did OZ C SIN-ICN-LAX last month and loved it!
No photos?
@NYBanker: I took plenty! A trip report is coming.
