Picture of the Week #3: Our Tax Dollars at Work and the TSA

Matthew Klint Posted onNovember 1, 2009November 14, 2023 2 Comments

I try to fly out of Burbank when I can because you can literally show up 25 minutes before departure and make it the the gate with time to spare–even if you are checking bags.

United shares T2 with American, Delta and Alaska–each airline has one gate. The lines get a little crowded at 6:30a in the morning (as AA’s MD80 bound for DFW, UA’s CRJs to DEN and SFO, DL’s CRJ to SLC, and AS’ 737 to SEA leave about the same time) but for the rest of the day flights are spread out and lines rarely have more than five people (if that).

I showed up for a 10:55a UA flight to SFO a few weeks ago and was one of there people in the security line. To my surprise (well, not really) TSA outnumbered passengers 3:1! Yes, there were nine TSA officers standing around discussing American Idol.

All for our safety…

Matthew, Matthew, Matthew. How DARE you put our national security at risk like that! Don’t you have any clue what such a picture could lead to in the wrong hands? 😉 Have you forgotten 9/11 already?
