Yum: Swedish Sour Gummy Worms On United Airlines

It’s hard for me to recommend junk food, but the new strawberry lemon flavored Swedish sour gummy worms on United Airlines are a really delightful treat.

Taste Test: Swedish Sour Gummy Worms On United Airlines

As a general rule, I’ve eliminated candy from my diet. One thing that held me back for years from having the body I wanted was binge-eating sour gummy bears and gummy worms…I have had a soft spot for candy like that since I was a little boy. But this stuff is pure sugar (at best) or a chemically-modified sugar substitute with artificial colors (at worst)…it not only is empty simple carbs that increase BMI, but also is bad for your skin.

While I’ve been good about never eating this crap at home, I noticed that United Airlines now has strawberry lemon-flavored sour gummy worms on its buy-on-board menu from a Swedish candy company called Sockerbit (it’s actually a US company with the candy made in Sweden).

Yes, I had to try it and got a chance this week. In terms of candy, this is certainly not healthy, but at least there are natural colors, no trans fat, and no high fructose corn syrup. Somehow there’s even a bit protein.

A bag has about 270 calories, which is about the same as two stroopwafels.

The strawberry and lemon flavors were a great juxtaposition and I must admit, I inhaled this bag like a junkie.

If you’re on United, this candy can be purchased for $6 from the buy-on-board menu, which is offered on flights over 500 miles within the US, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
