United Will Restore More International Service In October 2020

United Airlines is making adjustments to its October 2020 domestic and international schedule this weekend, with additions, subtractions, and the restoration of many routes, particularly to Latin America.

While it is still only a shadow of its “regular” schedule (United will fly 40% of its full schedule compared to October 2019), United is slowly resuming several key routes that were paused early on in the pandemic.

United Airlines October 2020 International Schedule

United will fly 33% of its October 2019 international schedule next month. This is up from 29% in September, though October marks the start of the already-reduced winter schedule.

Service will return to several cities in Latin America, including:

  • Bogota
  • Buenos Aires
  • Lima
  • Panama City

United will also increase service to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta from Chicago, Denver, Houston, Newark, and Washington Dulles.

Newark to Tel Aviv will become twice daily again and Washington Dulles to Tel Aviv will resume on October 25. Flights between Chicago and Tel Aviv will launch later this month.

The planned resumption of Chicago – Hong Kong will not occur for now.

United Airlines October 2020 Domestic Schedule

Domestically, United will re-launch nearly 50 new routes with the focus on Chicago, Denver, and Houston. Even ahead of its non-hub Florida experiment, United will launch service from Washington Dulles to Sarasota and Miami as well as from Denver to Fort Myers.

Los Angeles will see the resumption of three Oregon routes, including:

  • Eugene
  • Medford
  • Redmond/Bend

Ankit Gupta, United’s Vice President of Domestic Network Planning, said:

“We continue to be data-driven and realistic in our approach to rebuilding our network. Because October is typically a slower month for leisure travel, we’re adjusting our schedules to reflect these seasonal changes in customer demand while resuming service or adding capacity on routes where we’re seeing increased customer demand for travel.”

CONCLUSION

It remains a rough time for United and the entire U.S. airline industry. Expect October schedules to be loaded shortly…and also expect them to change from now until we actually reach October.

HKG just got pushed to Nov 1, from SFO, EWR and even ORD. However, it seems like they’re selling only B fares which are (e.g. from SFO) $4,999 o/w and $6,959 r/t, while CX (and AA) fares are normal.

United has removed over the past couple of days the new ORD-ZRH nonstop flight that was supposed to commence at the end of October – another sign that they are shrinking their anticipated expansion again.

Their load factor to Europe, ex-FRA flights, seems to be hovering in the 20% range!

Tel Aviv has held up very very strongly throughout this crisis.

United has maintained there flights without interruption and now will be flying there up to 4x daily, WOW!!
