I’ll admit, the Australian accent is my favorite accent in the world. But I love the Kiwi accent as well and love a new Air New Zealand Christmas ad poking fun at it.
There’s not much commentary I can add, but watch the video first–
A few thoughts.
First, I love Santa’s office. I’d love one like this too. But I don’t want my personal assistant dressing like an elf…
Second, I love that Santa has no trouble speaking Chinese, but cannot speak Kiwi. If I was granted any ability, I’m pretty sure I’d choose the ability to speak in every tongue in this wide world….including Kiwi!
Third, I think the commercial is a bit of an exaggeration, because I never had (too much) trouble communicating with Kiwis, including one that I worked with for a year during my Star Alliance days.
Even so, it’s a hilarious and humorous ad.
We should see quite a few airline Christmas/holiday ads rolling out in the next few weeks and I look forward to watching every one of them. If you’re feeling nostalgic for airline holiday ads, check out this collection I complied from last year.
