Breaking: Terror Attack on Sydney’s Bondi Beach

Gunmen open fire on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia at a Jewish event.

Today Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach became the setting for an unspeakable tragedy. On the evening of December 14, 2025, a terror attack unfolded during a Hanukkah celebration called Chanukah By The Sea, an event that drew more than a thousand people to the sands and grassy park near Campbell Parade. During the celebration two gunmen opened fire on the crowd, killing at least 11 people and injuring dozens more according to multiple reports from Australian officials and trusted news sources. Authorities are treating the incident as a terror attack targeting the Jewish community.

Shots Fired

The shooting began in the early evening around 6:47 local time, when attendees of the Hanukkah event heard shots ring out. Videos and eyewitness accounts show two men dressed in black firing into the crowd from a footbridge overlooking the area. One of the attackers appeared to be carrying a long rifle style weapon while the other had a handgun.

Heroism Amid the Horror

In the midst of terror and panic, a bystander stepped forward. Bystander footage confirmed by multiple sources shows a person rushing toward one of the gunmen armed with a rifle type weapon. That bystander tackled and disarmed the attacker, ultimately securing the weapon before either police or emergency responders could intervene. The act of bravery likely saved lives, though this civilian was reportedly wounded during the encounter.

Police and emergency services moved quickly to secure the scene, with one of the attackers being killed there and the other taken into custody, critically injured. Authorities have also found and removed explosive devices near the area.

The Aftermath and Response

At least 11 people are confirmed dead, including victims of the shooting. Many more, including two police officers, have been hospitalized with injuries. Australian officials, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, have condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly and senseless act of violence against innocent families and community members gathered for a holiday celebration.

This is being treated as one of the deadliest mass shootings in Australia in decades, and it has already sparked national and international outpourings of grief and solidarity.

Final Thoughts

Today’s tragic event on Bondi Beach highlights that terror can happen anywhere. The nature of the Jewish event suggests an anti-semitic motivation. This heartbreaking tragedy could have been far worse had it not been for an ordinary citizen taking an extraordinary risk to stop the shooters. Our condolences are with those affected by this disheartening event.

It’s because that is anathema to Progressives, for whom Muslims are another cruelly oppressed minority existing under the heel of the White Man. Most of them wouldn’t last a week living in a Muslim majority theocracy; the Queers for Palestine would be off to the gallows or thrown from a rooftop within hours of arriving; but they still manage to turn a blind eye to the misogyny, the homophobia, the rigid social authoritarianism, and the deathly silence whenever yet another Islamist atrocity is perpetrated upon innocents, including other Muslims.

Actually, most progressives prefer to judge people on their own individual merits. Not as whole group.

You really are a raging Islamophobe.

After the anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings Trump has closed the office on gun violence. Gun lobbyists are more important than protecting children and families. Does this surprise anyone?

Prayers for the families and victims today, and each day for the lives lost to this insanity.

Yes dear. And that is why they don’t have the gun violence that continue to plague the United States. I made the reference on this the anniversary where 20 children ( 5 to 7 ) were murdered at an elementary school. Next question?

Islam is not a race, Aaron, it’s an ideology, and a terrible ideology at that, incompatible with our lives and values in the West. It’s people like yourself who allow its murderous core beliefs to shelter behind claims of “racism!” and “islamophobia!” every time those same murderous core beliefs are exposed, or even discussed. It’s people like you who march along the street waving flags and chanting “globalise the Intifada!” and “resistance is justified!”. Well here’s the fruits of your “resistance” – sixteen Jews dead at the hands of a Muslim; that’s right, they’re Muslim; father and son, in a city some 8800 miles from Israel and Gaza. Congratulations. You and the rest of your simping, smooth-brained useful idiots must be feeling very proud of yourselves. It’s no wonder you get told to STFU on a regular basis. You might consider taking the advice, or at least thinking about what your actually posting before you publicly humiliate yourself by writing abject nonsense.

I never said Islam was a race. But it is interesting how you ignore the ignore the actions of certain Muslims while focusing on the actions of others to just your racist and Islamophobic views.

And it was a Muslim who tackled one of the shooters and is a hero who saved more lives.

And how vile and despicable of you to use this horribble attack to justify people not speaking up to a genocide. And hos disgusting to exploit the deaths of these victims to justify your own Islamophobia and racism towards Arabs.

And it was only one person on here who would tell me to STFU, and that person was called out by many others on here for their homophobia and racism. But if you agree with that person, that says quite a bit about you, and none of it good.

“Islamophobia” – a word invented by fascists and used by cowards to control morons. It’s a pitiful attempt to equate perfectly acceptable criticism of a nasty, hateful ideology with racism. Race is an immutable personal characteristic. Religious belief is not. So call me Islamophobic, because I don’t care. It’s not at all irrational to be frightened by Islam, because it’s monstrous. If you actually gave it some critical thought, you would be too.

Oh, and since I wasn’t around at the time Australia was colonised, I have zero responsibility for what happened back then, and neither do I give a flying diddly fuck. If you spend less time self-flagellating about things you cannot change, you might not be so insufferable.

No, Islamophobia is word derived from common sense to describe hateful a-holes like yourself. Of course you don’t care, hateful keyboard trolls like yourself who cheapen nice websites lole this rarely do.

And we all know you don’t give a flying diddly fuck about anthing, being the selfish hatemonger that you are. That is clear to all of us. And the insufferable one here is you, who feels the need to share and spread his hate-filled nonsense whereever he goes.

Christians and Jews? Yup,they should never have been allowed into Australia in the first place after the constant atrocities they’d perpetrated all over the world (and then continued to commit once they invaded Oz).

Australia has nothing to do with a trivial war more than 8000 miles from its shores. The problem is Islam, and its insanely fanatical followers. Read their holy book sometime. It makes the bible seem entirely peaceful and plausible, and that’s saying something.

Yeah just like it was Islam that led to the near genocide of the indigenous populations in America and Australia, Islam which led to what happened before and during WWII, Islam which led to the Klan, etc…

Australia allows semi automatic weapons for the military and law enforcement. Unlike the US, they acted to restrict these weapons which has made an impact. While nothing is perfect doing something has been better than nothing.

I agree that the country has done something and has had decent results. You can also see Switzerland as the opposing side of this where there is high rates of gun ownership, without the rampant tragedies we see here in the States. Of course the gov’t has weapons, but the imbeciles who decided to shoot up the beach don’t look like law enforcement or military to me…

Total Firearm Deaths: The annual rate of total gun deaths in Australia fell from 2.9 per 100,000 people in 1996 to just 0.88 per 100,000 in 2018. The decline in total firearm deaths accelerated after the laws were introduced.

(US) Overall Firearm Death Rate: The rate of total gun deaths per 100,000 people declined after the mid-1990s, reaching a low around 2014, before rising again. The total gun death rate in 2023 (13.7 per 100,000) was still below the peak of 16.3 per 100,000 in 1974, but 2021 had the highest number of gun deaths ever recorded.

The US had more than 10 times as many gun deaths per 100,000 than Australia but you lol because it’s not zero.

That response says more about you (all bad) than about Australia.

I think these stats are absolutely compelling and the strongest argument for why we need more gun control in America, even if it means that “the criminals” still find a way to get firearms in some situations.

Look at the mass shootings in America and you see that in most cases the guns wer legally acquired.

I live in Bondi and am a longtime LALF reader. To the numbskulls on this thread ‘lol’ing and claiming we somehow deserved it because of our politicians, I’d just point that Australia has not had a mass shooting like this in almost 30 years, so yes in fact Australia’s gun laws are working. I’m a dual US Australian citizen, and I’ve lived in communities in the US where there a lot of guns. Even after Sunday’s horrific events, even with the problem of Islamic extremism, even with its often feckless political leadership, Australia is a much safer place to raise a family. And somewhere deep in your brain-rot, you know that too.
