Review: Finnair Business Class Lounge Helsinki (HEL)

The Finnair Business Class lounge in Helsinki offers a great selection of food and fast wi-fi, but it does get crowded.

You’ll find the lounge near Gate 36 in the non-Schengen area.

As you enter the lounge, you’ll turn right if you are flying business class or left if you qualify under one of the metrics:

Finnair Plus Platinum and Gold members (+ one guest), and oneworld Emerald cardholders (+ one guest), when the departure flight is operated and marketed by a oneworld airline.

The “Premium Lounge” on the left side has upgraded food and beverage as well as a quiet area.

I liked the two-level design of the lounge, its modern aesthetics, and its selection of food.

The food selection contained a mix of hot and cold items, with soup, starches, chicken, salads, and pastries. Alcoholic beverages (nothing fancy) were also available as well as soft drinks and coffee.

In an effort to deter theft, lounge guests are advised to buy the Marimekko tableware online (instead of stealing it).

I was in the lounge from around 4p to 5p and the lounge was packed, as you can see. Furthermore, lounge attendants were virtually non-existent, causing cups and dishes to stack up.

The business side contains a small kid’s room:

What I Missed: The Sauna

I’m so steamed over this that I’m going to dedicate a separate post to it…but I missed the sauna area. That would have been fun, even on a summer day.

CONCLUSION

While crowded, the Finnair Business Class Lounge at Helsinki offers excellent food/drink and is worth stopping by if you arrive early for your flight.

Apparently the Helsinki airport business class lounges are under renovation until ‘May this year.
Any idea when they will re-open fully ?
Will they be functional from Mid May 2019?
Please do give any insight on this.
    Thanks

No idea. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

Caution. They must still be under renovation. The lounge described was nothing like the tiny, overcrowded, seatless space I’ve been crammed into.

The new lounge is beautiful. I’ll be posting an updated review shortly.
