Free Upgrade to Business Class on Aeroflot

Update: Deal has expired

Aeroflot Russian Airlines introduced a premium economy “Comfort Class” last year that provides a hybrid between business and economy similar to Air France’s Premium Economy product. Through the end of August, Aeroflot is offering Comfort Class passengers a free upgrade to business class on the shorter leg of their intercontinental journey via Moscow.

The offer is valid if you start or end your destination in:

  • New York
  • Seoul
  • Beijing
  • Shanghai
  • Vladivostok
  • Khabarovsk
  • Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

and travel to/from:

  • Russian Federation
  • CIS (the former Russian SSRs including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan)
  • Europe
  • Near East
  • Middle East

You get Comfort Class on the long flight and business class on the shorter flight.

What makes this offer is interesting is that Aeroflot actually has a decent business class product on their short and medium-haul flights. Unlike most of its European competition, Aeroflot has a nice(er) business class seat on short and medium-haul flights akin to domestic first class in the USA and Canada.

I’ve flown Aeroflot business before and found the food and service to far exceed my expectations – this is not the Soviet airline of yesteryear. Some destinations in this offer even offer an international business class style seat.
