I’ll Be Home For Christmas!

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 25, 2014 Leave a Comment

Happy Christmas to all and may I just say that it is great to be home in Los Angeles! After a marathon visa process, including an unexpected month in South Africa, the visa finally arrived and Heidi and I are home for Christmas.

After packing up and saying goodbye to family and friends in Germany, we traveled back to the States, fittingly in Lufthansa First Class, and will celebrate Christmas this evening with my family.

Admittedly, there is some nostalgia already for Germany–I had gotten used to life there and grown to love it in many ways–but we will return regularly and now comes the fun of starting life in a new city, even one as familiar as my hometown. The hunt for a house will keep us occupied in the coming days and weeks (hopefully not months) and plans for this blog and Award Expert and can now proceed at a more deliberate pace now that we must no longer live out of a suitcase.

The classic I’ll Be Home for Christmas song by Bing Crosby takes on a whole new meaning this year…there was a time when I thought I would be in Germany for Christmas, but I am thankful that with visa in hand we can now spend Christmases with both families with no fear of running afoul of immigration authorities.

Rocky shared a great compilation of airline Christmas videos and I love KLM’s video–

I also love Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas message this year–

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
