Use Miles For A Sneak Peek At LAX Polaris Lounge

United’s fifth Polaris Lounge opens at Los Angeles International Airport on January 12, 2019. But through a special sale to MileagePlus members, you can enter the day before.

As with past lounges, United is offering a special preview to United MileagePlus members the day before the official opening. On January 11th you can visit in two-hour increments for just 2,500 miles. That’s well worthwhile if you happen to be flying through LAX on that day.

Three different sales are available: one to general members of MileagePlus, another to elite members, and a third Chase/United co-branded credit card holders.

  • MileagePlus general members
  • MileagePlus Premier members
  • Chase/United co-branded credit card holders

As of posting time, there are still slots available in all three auctions.

We don’t have details yet about the new LAX Polaris Lounge, but United used the space previously occupied by the International First Class lounge (and thereafter a Untied Club). It’s a nice venue and my expectations are high for this.

CONCLUSION

This is a great opportunity to enjoy food and drink before your flight on 1/11 in a nice venue. These slots will sell out very quickly. If you are interested, don’t wait too long.

Will you be visiting the new Polaris Lounge at LAX in January?

Just a note that you don’t necessarily need to be flying through LAX to go to this, since they’ll give you a gate pass with your ticket. I carpooled up to the IAH Polaris lounge for the preview even there with a few other AV nerds and it was a good time, although they were still working out some major kinks with the service.

In the end the problems with the service made me slightly regret taking the time to go out to the airport for this, but if I had been there anyway I would have left with less of a sour taste.

I decided to splurge and make a special day trip out to LA to check it out first thing in the morning. Hope to see you there.
