The “old” Lufthansa first class lounge in Munich (MUC) still earns a poistive review and represents an essential element of the first class product.
Lufthansa Munich First Class Lounge Review (Terminal 2)
I first visited this lounge in December 2010, located in Terminal 2 near gates G21 and H21, and over a decade later, it hasn’t changed much at all (indeed, I’m just updating this old review since there is no need to start from scratch). And that’s a good thing. While the new “Satellite” lounge is larger and and has extra amenities like a beautiful terrace, the two lounges are very similar.
Location + Access + Hours
This lounge has two entrances, one on the G level (Schengen) and one on the H level (non-Schegen). The lounge itself is on the upper (H) level. When enterting the lounge, your passport will be held until it is time to depart. The lounge has it is own immigration officer.
If arriving from the Schengen area, proceed upstairs to the check-in counter, always decorated nicely with flowers, and present your boarding pass. If arriving from the non-Schengen area, you will arrive diretly at the check-in desk.
This is otuside the non-Schengen entrance:
Access is limited to Lufthansa or SWISS first class travelers and HON Circle members of Miles & More. Additionlly, Amerian Express Centurion credit card holders enjoy access. This is not a Star Allinace first class lounge (if you are flying first class on other carriers like Singapore or Thai, there is no access). The lounge is currently open from 5:00 AM to 10:00PM daily.
Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich Seating Area
Inside the lounge, you’ll find plenty of seating and rarely a crowd.
To demonstarte how little the lounge has changed, here are some pictures dating back to 2010:
If you need a private place to make a phone call or work, there are also desks available:
Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich Beverages
I usually start my visit to a Lufthansa First Class lounge with a cappuccino, and the coffee does not disappoint here. A beautiful coffee machine at the bar means just about any coffee drink you desire is available.
In the morning, there was a delicious green smoothie available:
There is also a fully-stocked bar wtih great selection of wine, beer, and cocktails (full menu below). One point of critsism. While I appreicate the avoidance of plastic bottles and desire to conserve, only tap water was availble. German Leitungswasser is not bad, but it’s also still very much tap water.
Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich Cigar Lounge
A smoking room in the back of the lounge offers a separately-ventilated area to smoke. Free cigarettes and cigars are no longer provided.
Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich Restrooms + Showers
Also in the rear of the lounge are restrooms and showers. If you want a souvenir rubber duck, ask the shower attentnant.
Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich Dining
The lounge features both a buffet and a la carte table service dining. The buffet looked very nice–I loved the tapas available.
Morning Buffet:
Around 10:30 am, the morning selection was repalced with a lunch/dinner spread:
As a point of comparison, this is what hte buffet looked like in 2018. You will notice much of the selection is still the same:
Here’s the a la carte menu, including a special daily menu:
I was surprsied to see rack of lamb on the menu and deviated from my usual filet mignon to order lamb.

Service began with three mini-baguettes in the center of the table with butter and sea salt.
A gin basil smash is always refreshing.
I was surprised how small the portions were…two very small lamb chops. But the mixed vegetables were delicious, French Fries always good, and I enjoyed a salad from the buffet.
To finish the meal, I had a flat white and Eiscaffee (coffee with vanilla ice cream) along with some berries. Yeah, that was more than enough caffeine for me…
Here’s what the filet looks like from a past visit:
Finally, if you like chocolate truffles, they are avialble on a table near the bar:
If your flight is departing from a remote stand, you will be driven to your gate. Otherwise, you’re on your own. Since our flight to Dubrovnik was departing from a gate, we had to walk (and it was quite a distance).
Children’s Area
If you are traveling with chidlren, there is a small area for them to play with toys and coloring books.
CONCLUSION
I love spending time in this lounge and deliberately schedule long layovers just to be able to spend more time here. If you have the pleasure of flying Lufthansa First Class, be sure to leave time to check out this lounge. In terms of airline lounges at Munich Airport, this is far superior than the business class or Senator lounge.

Beautiful and consistent.
About 2½ years ago they were out of ducks in Frankfurt. I left my address and they mailed it to me. It is the traveling tourist duck with the headphones and neck pillow. They should never run out of ducks
That was a very nice gesture!
Access is also available to Amex Centurion cardholders flying Lufthansa in any class.
This lounge was closed for renovation last summer… but it seems like nothing has changed?
Odd.
TBH, looks far much better, cozy and luxurious than the authentic Fra lounge. My Two cents.
The other Munich terminal has more than one advantage over FCT! You don’t have to walk along the street being one of them haha. And better plane views including landings.
Tbh that filet doesn’t look all that big either…either that or the plate is just big.
I will say the menu looks better in terms of options than the FCT menu.
Did you have access owing to having flown into FRA on First (on the same day), even though your FRA-MUC flight was in Business?
Correct. Would have had access in ZRH as well.
Thanks for the clarification, Matthew.
That brought back some GREAT memories. I got to go there on a big trip in 2014. We parked at a remote stand and we got the car ride there. I was pretty overwhelmed as I had never experienced anything like it before.
We had a meal there and they served us a beer in a half size glass stein. After we were done I asked if they might have one for sale. I was asked to wait for a moment and the next thing I knew our waiter came back with a fresh, clean one and gave it to me. WOW!
I got the Octoberfest duck.
A great ending to a 2 1/2 week trip to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. All paid for using points.
Waths wtih laa tje spelinh miskates? A simple check should fix that…
The menu looks significantly better than what was on offer in the FRA FCL at almost the exact same time as you did your trip. Why the disparity?
Ok Matthew, I’m afraid I have to call you out on this. A clear lie! fabrication! falsehood!
We all know the filet was meal #2 this lounge visit, not from a prior visit.
Although I would have done the same thing….
