Richard Branson Celebrates 60th Birthday by Adding 60 Planes to Virgin America Fleet

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 1, 2010 Leave a Comment

The title sums up the post nicely, but I like the way Richard Branson thinks:

"I am happy to celebrate my 60th birthday this week and I can’t think of a better present than getting 60 new planes."

Branson placed an order for 40 more A320s for the Virgin America fleet with an option for 20 more at the Farnborough Airshow in England last Thursday.

VX is still struggling to profitably compete against the established legacies in the Untied States, but this latest orders demonstrates that Branson is committed to staying in the race.

Happy Birthday Sir Richard! That’s my kind of birthday present.
