Black Woman Claims She Was Booted Off Southwest Flight Due To Racist Flight Attendant, Not Mask Violation

Southwest Airlines Racism

A Black woman claims she was booted off a Southwest Airlines flight due to a racist flight attendant. A witness claimed she was not wearing a mask when she used the lavatory, but other passengers were not removed for the same offense.

Southwest Airlines Racism? Passenger Claims Southwest Threw Her Off Because She Was Black, Not Due To Mask Compliance

The incident took place on on a Southwest Airlines flight from Denver to Chicago last Thursday. In graphic video, the passenger is seen confronting customer service agents then addressing other passengers before leaving. As she screams at the flight attendant, her friend tries to pull her off the aircraft. But she turns to the other passengers, tells them they have just witnessed racism, then implores them to post pictures and video online.

“Who’s processing my refund? Because now I’ve got to buy another flight for no f***ing reason, so process the refund.”

She later added:

“F*** you. F*** all of you because that’s racist as f***. I don’t like racism!

“Everybody in here is gonna know whoever the f***ing flight attendant is, he was racist and he was mad for two seconds I didn’t have a mask on because I went to a restroom.

“I put a mask on. I’m sitting here in compliance, and he tells me to get off the flight. So, y’all have a good flight, but this is what happens when you’re black in America.

As her companion tried to lead her off, she said:

“No! I’m tired. I paid my money. F*** all of y’all… You’re gonna come to me with a mask covering my nose and my mouth and tell me to get off the flight because the flight attendant feels uncomfortable, because he’s white. F*** you.

“Y’all enjoy your flight. This is what happens when you’re black in America. You guys all witnessed it. For the first time, when you’re black in America they’ll tell you to get off the flight.”

Signaling that she paid more for priority boarding, she added:

“A2 and A3, I paid an extra $80 for these … I’ve gotta go to work tomorrow. Now I gotta find another flight when I had a mask on my face.”

Before leaving, she said:

“Y’all have a safe flight and I love everybody on here and God bless every person on this flight.”

It isn’t clear what occurred before filming began. The woman is clearly upset, is not wearing her mask properly (lowering it below her nose and mouth), and eventually hurls it at Southwest ground staff. She can be heard claiming she was wearing it and removed it just for a moment to use the lavatory.

However Sergio Workman, another passenger onboard who took the video above, told the UK Daily Mail:

“I felt the airline was discriminating only because they did not give her a fair chance to comply, simply resorted to removing her and her guest from the plane.

“There were no other passengers actively not wearing their masks but I did witness and hear multiple occasions where passengers were given a chance to correct their face covering versus being removed from the plane.”

Southwest has not commented on the after.

CONCLUSION

That last point is key. Not that there is any justification for screaming and cursing at anyone, but anger is certainly understandable if others are given a chance to correct their mask issues but she was not. I’d like to think flight attendants would not be so capricious as to not give passengers at least one chance to correct their face masks, but we know that does not always happen.

If you were on this flight, please comment below. What did you observe onboard?

If she took off her mask, went down the aisle and used the restroom and back up the aisle to her seat she potentially exposed far more people than someone merely sitting in a seat needing to “correct” their mask.

Agreed. But if she did not know she was doing something wrong and then began to comply after, I don’t see why she had to be removed.

Um, this business of screaming “racism” at every turn has to stop. For one thing, by using “racism” as a catch-all for anything that goes wrong in your life, you are in fact cheapening the very definition of the word. Secondly, it’s cynical and sleazy to claim “racism” when you get busted for doing something wrong in some attempt to get over on the authority figure who called you out.

Throw her ass off the plane for being disruptive and be done with this nonsense.

Would just like to observe that every person removed from a flight for not wearing a mask who screams “I was following the rules, what is going on?!” is always pictured with their mask pulled down below their mouth.

Very odd. Why would someone remove their mask for the lavatory. That’s a place I would want a mask, to mask off the pee smell. Not only that, but my N95 mask is tight and takes a while to put on because I have to fix my hair that gets messed up so I would always leave the mask on when possible.

This is why vaccination is important. People take of masks. People yell with their masks off, like this woman.

I heard when you are arrested by the police in a foreign country, to try to resolve the problem as early as possible because once the matter gets to Ankara, Washington, Moscow, or where the capital city is, it’s difficult to fix. As such, pleading with the crew is a tactic I would try, even shedding tears if I knew how to do it on cue. I do know a woman who knows how to do that.

Using the defense “well others are doing it” seldom works.

Not sure what else is going on but keeping a mask on isn’t that difficult and being photographed with it off doesn’t help your case.

At this point in the pandemic given how much press and media attention masks have received, I am disinclined to believe that anyone is ignorant of when they’re supposed to be masked up. Whether they choose to do so is another discussion, but “I didn’t know” is no longer a valid excuse. For anyone.

I do feel bad for her that she is a victim of extreme mask policies that should not be enforced. However, it is hard to have sympathy when blacks make false racial claims. Every group has been a victim of draconian mask enforcement (even 2 year old disabled children). It is worth pointing out that blacks are 13% of the population and commit 52% of violent crimes. When one groups breeds love rap culture and causes a disproportionate amount of commotion in every situation, circumstances, and neighborhood they are in, how can rational white people not be put off. How can rational white people not be furious that our lives are made worse by one group.

It’s understandable she’d remove it while in the bathroom and be reapply it after having left out. Consider the fact you have to wipe your ass ladies and gentlemen. So I’m not touching my mask or face with pissy hands. So after washing her hands and turning in that tight space to exit, you begin to reapply the mask. I don’t know about anyone else but I look for any relief from being behind that stuffy mask. So if it’s 2 minutes in the bathroom, I’ll take it. So very much possible.

Yes! if something negative happens to you and you are black it is immediately due to racism, I mean how could it possibly be just because you are an ignorant fool or an actual criminal. The crime stats are facts as you point out (and I’m not talking about drug crimes) – one stat nobody seem to care about in all this racist police BS is that 90% of blacks killed by police are killed by black officers and it’s almost exactly the same for whites who are killed by police. Where is the disparity that points to it being a race issue as opposed to who is committing more of the violent crimes. Also, if you are black and the victim of a violent crime there is only a 10% chance the offender was of a different race whereas if you are white and the victim of a violent crime it 20% that the offender was another race…these are facts on the DOJ website. Where is the discussion on this topic? Yeah, let’s get rid of the police and all get bent out of shape someone who isn’t white is told to put on a mask. They will destroy their own movement and forget they a fraction of a population that is going to get sick of this as soon as the pandemic is over and everyone can worry about their own lives mattering.

Jen – yes it is and the end result will be a return to real racism in this country because 90% of the population will be so sick of it. Something else that doesn’t get talked about is the 20% hispanic portion of the US which is far more racist than US whites (I don’t mean that to be negative on that portion of the population, if everyone is allowed to say all whites are racist, why can’t other groups be). You only need to look at the comments mexican politicans make which are far worse than anything Trump actually said. BLM will have then end result of everyone turning against them except hollywood or any group that can make money off them. In fact, even thier own leaders of socialists and marxists use the movement to make money and have absolutely no idea of what their political affiliations mean. Their leadership is so much worse than even Trump at his worst. Hand = overplayed.

    @UA-TDS

While Jackson Waterson may espouse views some (including myself) might consider “racist,” can you refute that Black folx commit homicides at a massively disproportionate rate? Do you dispute that black folx comprise about 13% of the US population? Do you dispute the Bureau of Justice statistics that say black folx committed 52.5% of the recorded homicides from 1980-2008? Is it racist to bring up such facts? We can debate why black folx kill at such a higher rate than white folx, but are the numbers themselves in dispute?

Jackson Waterson seems to be someone who cares about protecting individual rights against the state. Black folx would be among the prime beneficiaries of a reduction in government coercion as it is the misguided Democratic policies like the Great Society that have helped create and perpetuate a black underclass. Trillions of dollars have been spend to combat poverty, but to what end? Take a lesson from Communist China, my collectivist comrade, and see what can happen when the state gets out of the way of the citizen. Millions decried the knee of Officer Chauvin on George Floyd’s back, but what of the knee of the state suffocating all black folx? State coercion is literal violence of white supremacy.

    Black != African-American

“Negro” and “colored” worked just fine until around the time of civil unrest in the 1960s. Thank God LBJ and the Democrats solved that with the Great Society and the War on Poverty.

She was totally wrong, am not in support of her wrong doings, but let me get this straight. Why was she thrown off the flight?, Simply because she’s Black, and several Blacks had been thrown off flights by Southwest airlines, yes.
I love Whites and Blacks, I love everybody, everybody is equal in God’s eyes because we’re not perfect. Have some Humanity within you and stop treating Blacks like animals, cause we’re nothing but Humans just like you. Be good, we are one.
