Star Alliance Lounge Access for $249 from US Airways

Matthew Klint Posted onSeptember 28, 2010 Leave a Comment

US Airways is offering lounge memberships for only $249 (+ $50 initiation fee for new members) through September 29. The membership will be good for one year and is a substantial discount off the $450 regular price (discounted by as much as $125 for US elites).

Membership also gives you access to United’s Red Carpet Clubs and Continental’s Presidents Clubs anytime, as well as access to other Star Alliance lounges when you are traveling on a Star Alliance carrier.

Furthermore, the deal is "stackable" with two concurrent US Airways promotions. First, enter promo code CEB3K when you join and you’ll get 3,000 US elite miles deposited into your account. Second, purchasing membership will count as a hit in US’ grand slam promo.

I may take advantage of this offer. Though I covet Senator status on Lufthansa (after the BMI-LH mileage program merger), I’ve only credited about 5K miles to my British Midland account this year and I’d rather credit the remaining 33K miles to United, which not only will get me double RDMs and lifetime flights miles, but also put me over the 150K EQM threshold, giving me two additional SWUs. In fact, if I can get past 175K EQMs, I can nominate someone to Premier Executive status or get 25,000 more RDMs from United’s "Elite Choice" program.

I have yet to make up my mind, but the more I think about it, the more I think that paying $300 is more reasonable than trying to credit 35K more miles to British Midland.

(Tip of the hat to Gary)
