Trump Proudly Displays New Air Force One Model In Oval Office

U.S. President Donald Trump proudly showcased a model of the next-generation Air Force One in the Oval Office and offered further explanation on his choice of new livery.

Last week, President Trump showed renderings of the new livery to ABC News. Now, a new model sits prominently in the White House. The 1:100 display sitting on a coffee table in the Oval Office and seemed to overshadow discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over trade and Iran.

Trump began his press appearance repeating his standard money-savings line about the new aircraft:

This is the new Air Force One. I would say the plane basically is an upgrade over that model. We actually are getting things that they didn’t get. We’re saving about $1.5 billion. So it’s going to be terrific.

You can watch the video here.

Speaking on Fox & Friends last Friday, Trump explained the new livery choice:

You know what? It’s been a long time and it fits the plane better … and I like the concept of red white and blue, and the classic. I think it’s going to look much better actually.

He aded:

You know the baby blue doesn’t fit with us. People get used to something, but … That was Jackie O and that’s good, but we have our own Jackie O today, it’s called Melania. Melania. We’ll call it Melania T.

It?

CONCLUSION

The new livery is growing on me. I still prefer the current livery, but this new livery also looks very sharp.

How about you? Do you like the new Air Force One livery?

Absolutely not, the current AF1 paint job is iconic and is a unique paint job that is instantly recognizeable anywhere in the world instantly due to its uniqueness. This half thought out paint job looks similar to numerous corporate paint jobs. Congress is trying to legislate that AF1 paint jobs can’t be changed without the consent of Congress and I hope they get it through.

Awful, and the wrong red and blue (if we’re talking America red, white, and blue). But of course it’s the Trump plane red and blue. I read one reason not to change the current blue is that it’s a bit of a camouflage in the sky. This gaudy color scheme won’t happen if Trump is a one-term president.

Change for change sake. Again. The current design is top class: A most beautiful and elegant design. Where’s the focus on tradition. There isn’t any. Sad, sad, sad. US Airways reborn, indeed.

This new livery does not look anything close to “sharp.” It’s a petty change that is giving up an incredible brand image known around the world. Ridiculous and unnecessary.

I like it – maybe add a gold stripe as well. Was never fond of the baby blue, it’s a bit too UN colored. As for congress legislating sole authority over Air Force One’s paint jobs? Good luck with that.

It’s a shame congress continues to waste time on go no where bullshit like that, instead of tackling real issues.

This is the Trump Air livery upside down. That’s all it is!

Maybe he will get to take the model home as a keepsake after the election. Especially since he will never get to actually fly the new one.

In fairness, Melania does have a great sense of fashion style, although it’s troubling that she’s unable to discriminate by occasion, eg turning up for a hurricane aftermath fully decked in Dior rather than high viz waterproofs.
The paint job is inoffensive, although it would have been better to stick with classic.
The test will come when the interior is revealed: expect something similar to the ultra vulgar Trump Tower apartment, ie like someone has scavenged unwanted hideousness from the lobby of an under-renovation St Regis. What a pity Joan Rivers is no longer with us: her take on such matters would be something worth watching.

Wow, tacky doesn’t begin to cover it, even considering the source.

The real thing will look slightly different. When I saw the drawing that Trump was holding, the bottom looked black. This model, it’s definitely blue. The model has a thin stripe which I didn’t see in the drawing.

Amazing the things Trump obsesses over when he ought to be focused on being THE PRESIDENT.

He just needs to change the blue to a lighter hue, maybe match whats on the flag and it will look 2x better.
