Buy an Actual Piece of a United 747!

As United Airlines ramps up for the final 747-400 flight on November 07, 2017, it is offering you the chance to take home a piece of 747 history.

You can now buy a number of 747 hardware pieces. A livery panel (80K miles) and fuselage window (50K miles) have already sold out, but rows of economy class seats are still available. A triple-passneger seat is 250K miles while a double is 275K miles. The seats are from N171UA, a 1989 747-400 that flew 98,914 flight hours over 26 years.

Starting on October 30th, bid items go live including a rear-facing American flag cut-out, an oxygen pressure indicator, and a tail number cut with United’s signature “UA”.

Bidding will run though November 07, the day of the final flight.

I received the email yesterday, read it immediately, but did not take the time to click through. I’m not sure the livery panel or fuselage window would look good in my 1920’s bungalow, but I admittedly regret not buying one. I could have hung it on the wall of my office or the baby’s room…50K miles was actually not a bad price. I’ll pass on the economy class seats…which definitely would not fit in my mission-style living room.

How about you? Will you be bidding or buying any of these items?
