Review: ANA Lounge Honolulu (HNL)

The new ANA lounge in Honolulu is an architectural masterpiece and a superb lounge option for Star Alliance Gold travelers at HNL.

Fair warning: it’s a quite a walk from most United gates if you are traveling, which I imagine this lounge will appeal most to. Hours are also limited to 8:30 AM until the final ANA flight departs, sometime in the early afternoon.

But consider the long walk a way to burn off calories, for the lounge has plenty fo food and beverage choices.

ANA Honolulu Lounge Food + Drink

A buffet offers a mix of Hawaiian, Japanese, and Chinese food. You’ll also find soup, salad, bread, cheese, and desserts. I was saving my appetite for the flight, but would have preferred a lunch in this lounge over most onboard offerings on United (let alone the United Club food spread).

If you are thirsty, a full-service bar offers beer, wine, and spirits as well as sake. There’s fruit juice, water, soda, coffee, and tea as well.

ANA Honolulu Lounge Design

There are two things I love most about this lounge. First, is the intricate woodwork carved into trees. It adds so much character to what would otherwise frankly be a bland design.

There are also plenty of power ports:

Second, the tarmac views are superb. Not only can you get a great look at the Flying Honu A380 bound for Tokyo, you can even see Diamond Head in the distance.

Restrooms are available, but the lounge does not have showers.

If you are traveling with small children, a children’s play room offers a safe space for your child to make noise and jump around while ensconced in a glass sound barrier.

ANA Lounge HNL Boarding

If you are flying ANA from Honolulu, you will board your aircraft directly from the lounge. At the far end is boarding door with a ramp that connects to the jetbridge.

ANA Lounge Honolulu Service

In a word, the service is spectacular. Don’t expect cups or dishes to pile up in this lounge and I’ve never seen anything so clean in HNL.

ANA Lounge Honolulu Access + Hours

As stated above, hours of this lounge are 8:30 AM until the final ANA flight departs.

Entrance is reserved for:

  • Star Alliance Gold passengers (+1 guest) traveling in any cabin
  • Star Alliance Business Class passengers departing HNL on an international longhaul flight
  • Star Alliance First Class passengers (+1 guest) departing HNL on an international longhaul flight

Passes are also available. The cost is $40/per-person and must be arranged in advance here.

CONCLUSION

Whether you are hungry, thirsty, or just looking for a comfortable place to wait for your flight (especially as construction at HNL seems to be always in progress), do check out this lounge.

Wow! Awesome to see HNL finally get a great quality lounge and I couldn’t agree more on the food selection being more appetizing than what’s available on board a United flight or in the United Club. Lived in Hawaii for a couple of years and would often go for the Long Board Lager when I was there, so nice to see that touch!

Quick question, is it possible to get into this lounge with the United Club card? I heard you could get into Star Alliance lounges but I wasn’t sure if that meant all *A partner lounges or just the *A branded lounges like in LAX.

I was going to ask the same question! It’s a Star Alliance business class lounge, so a membership to the United Club should get one in without fail. But sometimes individual lounges don’t get the message,
