It’s a sad, sad, day.
It looks like the much delayed Baha Mar construction project has come to an end and the future of the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar may be in jeopardy. Chinese construction delays have been blamed in numerous reports, but there may be hope for the property yet. The four hotel resort is reportedly 97% complete and has already trained a staff of 2,000 people for which they have been incurring costs since their planned opening March of 2015.
The property looked beautiful and I am sure a smart developer will pick it up for a song, especially since all the pieces are well in place.
I have a reservation that remains confirmed at this point for November, I am hoping that if Hyatt is able to take over their portion and finish their side of the project that I can still enjoy the property. But I highly doubt that any deal would get done in time for that deadline. More bad news though, Hyatt is no longer taking reservations for the date for which I have a reservation, meaning it is likely cancelled or delayed indefinitely.
