Why JetBlue Dinner In MINT Class Is The Best

Each week, my Meal of the Week feature examines an airline meal from my travels over the years. This may be a meal from earlier in the week or it may be a meal served over a decade ago.

Despite our complaints, premium cabin meal service is actually not bad on the legacy carriers. But then there’s JetBlue, which continues to be in a league of its own.

I fly often and am fortunate to often fly in premium cabins, particularly on longer flights. Meal service is rarely something to look forward to, but it is also nothing to fear. I’ve had my fair share of very good meals on American, Delta, and United.

But I was talking to a friend yesterday who just flew JetBlue from New York to LA and it reminded me that JetBlue continues to be an outlier, in a positive way. This week, I look back on a tremendous dinner I enjoyed on JetBlue back in 2016.

JetBlue’s MINT business class offers high-quality, tapas style dishes. On transcontinental flights you can pick and choose up to three dishes, usually out of five. These vary from salads to pastas to meat dishes.

On my flight from JFK to LAX the menu had a number of great choices despite the late evening departure.

I chose an Asian pear salad, chicken & dumpling, and bison meatloaf for my choices:

All three courses were exceptional. Truly delicious:

Even the warmed sourdough bread was outstanding:

a roll of bread and a small container of olive oil

But that wasn’t all. A tremendous dessert course with fresh cut, ripe fruit, excellent cappuccino, and superb Blue Marble ice cream followed.

CONCLUSION

Honestly, JetBlue wins just for the food alone. But throw in the tremendous service and JetBlue MINT remains the best domestic premium product.

      That means it was ‘inspired’ by Saxon and Parole.
      If it all seems too complex for you, try the ‘Plane Eats’ menu, with more simple options (Hamburgers, Pasta, etc)

    Please don’t eat Bison. The dear things should be allowed to roam the plains without fear of marauding Millennials wanting to eat them.
