I’m going to keep this review short: the LOT Polish Business Lounge Mazurek was so crowded ahead of afternoon flights to New York and Toronto that I only stayed for about three minutes.
LOT Polish Mazurek Lounge Review Warsaw (WAW)
Mazurek is LOT’s non-Schengen Area Lounge. It’s actually quite a nice space, with plenty of natural light and views of the aprons, updated bathrooms, and a nice selection of food.
This lounge is located beyond passport control on the lower level (one level down from departures). You can take the stairs or an elevator down. It is open daily from 6:15 am to 11:00 pm.
Access is reserved for:
- LOT Business Class passengers
- Star Alliance Gold members
- HON Circle members
- Miles & More member with Frequent Traveler status (Star Alliance Silver)
LOT Premium Economy passengers on flights from/to China, Kazakhstan, India, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Sri Lanka and the USA can purchase access at a discounted rate of PLN120 (~27USD).
But the crowding…
At 3:00 pm local time, about an hour before the boarding of LOT’s Dreamliner service to both New York and Toronto, the lounge was standing room only.
Thus, let me start by recommending that you use the Polenz Lounge instead, then give yourself about 30 minutes to proceed though passport control and make your way to the gate for your non-Schengen flight. That lounge is more spacious and you should not have to fight for a seat there.
Some pictures:
Probably had I been there three hours early during the early afternoon lull it would have been fine.
Food selection included salad, fish, potatoes, sliced cheeses and meat, cereal, whole fruit, and packaged crisps and chocolate.
Beverage selections included water, juice, soft drinks, liquid yogurt, and a very small selection of alcohol (sparkling wine, white wine, red wine, plus whiskey and brandy).
In the rear of the lounge there are restrooms which were very modern and clean. There is also a shower suite, though it was in use so I do not have a picture.
CONCLUSION
If you can avoid the crowds, this is a very fine lounge. But during the morning and afternoon rush, this lounge becomes unbearably crowded. The next door Bolero Lounge was much less crowded.
Ultimately, I retreated to the gate and thought it was far more quiet and spacious than the lounge.
This makes sense for a variety of reasons: It appears there’s fewer LOT/Star Alliance lounges in the international zone than in the schengen zone where people will be getting to the airport early and having long flights hence they’ll want to use the lounge. At a price of $27, it sounds like a bargain.
