PS Air Bar: Airline-Themed Speakeasy In Palm Springs

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 24, 2024May 24, 2024 4 Comments

I was in Palm Springs last week and a friend took me to an airline-themed “speakeasy” aptly called PS Air Bar. It’s a lot of fun and worth a stop if you are in town.

You wouldn’t really know there’s a bar from the front of the shop, which appears just to be a wine shop called Bouschet.

But walk inside past the wine shop (which also has seating) and you will find the “aircraft” on the right.

Inside, you’re in a single-aisle plane with “lounge seating” like we used to see on Southwest Airlines and still see on trains (three seats face one another). In fact, these appear to be former SOuthwest Airlnes seats, though the first row does have old-school first class seats.

The menu resembles a pilot’s metal notebook that typically includes safety checklists (these days, though, pilots use iPads) and includes a wide range of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits…plus food.

I ordered a Negroni while my friend an Aperol. We also ordered some nuts, which were spiced cashews served warmed.

The waiter was dressed like a pilot, wearing a white shirt with epaulets.

I loved the note next to the Moscow flight on the departure board…

The lavatory was cleverly mocked up to look like an airline lavatory, but quite spacious inside…

All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Have you been to the PS Air Bar in Palm Springs?

I’m just glad to see that ITA had resumed their PSP-MIA flight. Surely it was Berlusconi who was able to negotiate a cabotage carve out for Alitalia.

YES! Been to that bar – If I recall – there was an old continental banner/sign in there
