Qantas First Class Breakfast: Then And Now

Matthew Klint Posted onFebruary 15, 2025February 15, 2025 7 Comments

I shared some highlights from my Qantas flight from Sydney to Los Angeles flight (full review here), but I thought it would be fun here to compare my first Qantas First Class breakfast from 2015 with the breakfast I just enjoyed.

The Dependable Qantas First Class Breakfast

In 2015,  I flew from Sydney (SYD) to London (LHR) on Qantas via Dubai (DXB) on QF001. The London-Sydney flight now goes through Singapore (SIN) as it did for many years prior, but there was a brief period after Emirates and Qantas partnered up that the flagship route went through Dubai.

Anyway, breakfast was served on the Dubai – London flight sector prior to landing.

I ordered:

  • Fresh fruit
  • Cappuccino
  • Fruit smoothie
  • Bircher müsli
  • French Toast with poached apples and ricotta cheese

a plate of fruit on a table

a cup of coffee and a glass of milk

a bowl of cereal and milk with a spoon

a plate of food and a cup of coffee

a plate of french toast and sliced apples

Everything was wonderful.

Eight years later, I enjoyed another first class breakfast flying from Sydney to Los Angeles (LAX). I ordered:

  • Fresh fruit
  • Flat white
  • Cold pressed Valencia orange juice
  • Cold pressed Pink Lady app juice
  • Urban Remedy cold pressed green juice with cucumber, apple, pineapple, pear,
    celery, kale, and lemon
    • Side note: Urban Remedy is one of my favorite juice brands and I was tickled to see it on Qantas
  • Bircher müsli
  • Avocado on toast with goat’s cheese, spiced finger lime and almond salsa
  • Egg white omelette with ricotta

a bowl of fruit and a cup of coffee

a cup of coffee with a heart shaped foam

a bowl of cereal and two glasses of orange juice

a plate of food and a cup of coffee

a plate of food and a drink

a glass of liquid on a table
Apple juice, not wine.

Seems my appetite has grown in the last eight years…

While service may be hit or miss, you can always count on a good meal in Qantas First Class. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I appreciated the fresh juices, great coffee, and nice selection of entrees available on both flights.

My Meal of the Week feature examines an airline meal from my travels over the years. This may be a meal from earlier in the week or it may be a meal served over a decade ago.

Wow!!! After that huge portion of fresh fruits I hope you left enough room for the rest of the meal.

That is not bircher muesli. Not in 2015 and not now! Epic fail for a first class breakfast

The difference between F and J is French toasts get crusts cut off before plating. 🙂

Qantas are so tight where it comes to most things, including portion sizes.

Looks more like avocado on BURNT toast to me. Don’t you ever get tired of that same old thing?

Pathetically embarrassing for prices charged for F and J. Shame on Qantas and Neil Perry for putting his name to the Qantas ‘catering’ farce.
