Rioters Hunt Down Jews At Russian Airport

A rabid mob of anti-Jewish rioters stormed a Russian airport in search of Jews, with the express intention of killing them, when they caught wind of the imminent arrival of a Red Wings flight from Tel Aviv. What a sad testament of radicalism and a vivid warning of the danger of the mob mentality.

In Russia, Rioters Hunt Down Jews After Tel Aviv Flight Lands

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Makhachkala Uytash Airport (MCX) in Russia’s Dagestan region, a part of the Russian Federation that is 83% Muslim. A small Jewish diaspora also lives there.

It is not clear what triggered the incident, but word went out that a Red Wings charter flight was arriving from Tel Aviv (TLV). Rioters coalesced at the airport and proceeded to breach the fence, storming the tarmac and searching for Jews while vowing to kill them.

Crowds chanted:

“There is no place for child-killers in Dagestan.”

Talk about irony…

Here’s some videos, as highlighted by View From The Wing:

The mob demanded passports from the passengers they did encounter and in at least one instance, passengers remained onboard the aircraft with the aircraft door closed for fear of their safety. Mobs also stormed area hotels in search of Jews and Israelis.

Russia has sent in troops to restore order.

The Disgusting Mob Mentality

I’m late to commenting on this, but I have watched with great sadness events unfold over the last few weeks in the Holy Land and beyond. As in any war, we see that so much of conflict is over information, not just life and death or territory.

Who got this mob riled up in the first place, inflaming their disgusting prejudices? The Russian narrative is that this was stirred up by the West. For every disgusting perversion of morality, there is an alternate reality that seeks to spin it. That’s how wars are waged and this war goes beyond the Gaza Strip or Ukraine.

Russians claim they are rooting out “Nazis” in Ukraine but it is the Russian side deploying Nazi-like tactics to occupy a sovereign nation and it is radical Russians utilizing Nazi tactics in Dagestan to launch a pogrom against Jews.

A hospital bombing by Israel kills children? Or was it self-inflicted failed rocket attack by Islamic Jihad militants? Depends on who you ask. Some are so jaded by their anti-Israeli bias they will insist that the Israelis had to do it and there can be no discussion.

The point is, though, that there is only one reality but the fog of war obscures it.

There are some difficult questions to wrestle with about the conflict between Hamas and Israel that I thought I would get into here, but won’t…at least not now.

For now, I’ll just say that incidents like the Makhachkala Uytash Airport attack show the danger of the mob mentality, the inclination some humans have to be part of a large group, often neglecting their individual feelings, values, or morals in the process.

And that with the rise of AI and the propaganda arms of Russia, China, Hamas, the US, and Israel in full force, it is difficult to know what to believe…and that is why we must ask questions and be discerning.

Finally, it is right and proper that Israel is admonished to carefully limit civilian casualties in Gaza, especially the poor children caught in the middle of this. But the very fact that Israel is given this admonition paints quite a contrast between it and Hamas, which gave no respect to the rules of war when it wantonly destroyed Israeli life.

CONCLUSION

The airport incident in Dagestan is disgusting and should be condemned by anyone with a conscience. Incidents like this show the disgusting reach of hate and the fear and intolerance that drive it. It may not be safe to be a Palestinian in the Gaza Strip or West Bank right now, but stories like this make me wonder whether it is safe to be a Jew anywhere in the world.

Treat others the way you want to be treated. That starts with every personal interaction you encounter.

Well said. This is a clash of civilizations that affects us all . . . the Jews generally and Israelis in particular are now on the front lines for decent civilized people everywhere.

It truly is a time where every Jew needs to be vigilant. The only good thing to come from this is the exposure of those individuals showing their true colors as anti semites. On the positive side, new allies in possibly unexpected places, such as Sen Fetterman standing up loudly for the Jewish people and calling out those in his own party for their lack of acceptance of what Hamas did.

In Nevada a lunatic was just arrested for threatening Sen Rosen. As Mak said, this affects us all. It is not a time for anyone to be silent, but violence is not the answer. Peace people.

Seriously? You are wondering why hamas isn’t admonished for killing civilians and Israel is? Well because one is a terrorist organization and one is a liberal democracy that holds itself to western standards.

But yet, as long as Gaza is maintained as a virtual open air prison and settlements thrive in the West Bank, this will continue to happen. Those policies are the oxygen Hamas uses to thrive.

Not that Netanyahu and his cohort understand or care about any of this, but thankfully many ordinary Israelis do.

Nice that you call it a terrorist organization. Many call it the elected government of the people of Gaza and thugs like Erdogan praise it as a moral and noble organization.

its both things. that’s the danger of democracy, you can elect tyrants and terrorists as your elected government. Thus my comment about how this cycle will keep repeating as long as Israel insists on maintaining Gaza as an open air prison and settlements thrive in the West Bank. When a people are left hopeless they lash out….

Glad you are writing about this awful incident.
I am wondering when, and not if, you will write multiple posts on the over 6,000 palestinians murdered by the the most moral army of the zionist entity, about 3,000 of which are children. It’s funny how only certain victims of violent crimes get a nod on these sites. Your bigotry, whiteness, and colonial tropes are showing. I wonder how you will eat your words once you that standing with an occupying power is on the wrong side of history. Though, knowing Euro-americans and their history of genocide, I won’t hold my breath RFL

Are you dense? Israel and yes Egypt too control gazas land borders. Israel controls its seas and air borders. Nothing gets in or out without their explicit ok.

That is the literal definition of an open air prison. As long as Israel continues this policy the same tragic results will continue

Hamas seems to have an unlimited supply of rockets and weapons. I’d say Israel does a pretty poor job of controlling Gaza’s borders.

Sorry, but not really surprised, that we have at least one apologist for terrorists who murder, rape, and kidnap civilians and justifies it based upon nonsense propaganda that Gaza is an “open-air prison,” despite the fact that Israel evacuated every soldier, man, woman, child from Gaza in 2005 and it shares a border with Egypt. Hitler and Osama Bin Laden also had their equally empty hyperbole to justify their atrocities.

Hi, I’m scheduled to travel to Qatar, Egypt (Cairo), Jordan, and Dubai beginning November 14th. We are American but not Israeli American or Jewish. I know the Israel/Hamas War and tensions in the area unpredictable but do you think I should preemptively cancel this trip?

And the sad part is that you’d get similar behavior if you happened to be a Jew at one of the many “Stand with Gaza” protests across the world. Of course our idiot leaders let in millions of these scumbags instead of leaving them in their backwards countries where they belong.

Hamas declared war. Israel is responding.

Somehow we’ve gotten it into our heads that there should be no collateral damage in a war. Which is why our wars take decades now. World War 2 would still be in progress if it was fought with modern sensitivity.

If your enemy attacks you, as Hamas did, you kill every single one of them until they surrender unconditionally. The sooner they surrender the fewer civilian casualties. It’s entirely up to Hamas how many die. I respect the restraint that Israel is showing. But it won’t save any lives, it will just prolong the conflict.

Leaving aside the whole antisemitic thing, it’s also pretty disturbing to see how easy a mob storms an airport with no pushback. I mean, it’s a freaking international airport. That kind of thing can raise a lot of questions about Russian airports and its air travel industry as a whole, more than the usual, I might add.

Don’t let the confusion around the source al-Ahli Hospital blast obfuscate the fact that Israeli forces have indiscriminately been striking civilian populations (and even targeting journalists and other civilians) in Gaza to the extent that Israel has killed children in Gaza at a rate of one child every 10 minutes since the conflict has started (about 3,200 total). This extends beyond just Gaza and Hamas — Israeli forces and state-sanctioned illegal settlers have killed 109 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 33 children. Don’t also let it obfuscate the fact that Israel has consistently targeted Palestinian health care infrastructure: the World Health Organization has documented at least 115 Israeli attacks on hospitals, ambulances, and other health care workers in the occupied territories.

Russia really struggles to keep things in check in the Caucasus. Abkhazia, S. Ossetia, Artsakh, Dagestan. This is just another example. This ambush wouldn’t happen in any other region of Russia. Imagine airport security not intervening in Moscow.
