British Airways Schedules 747 On Domestic Flights

British Airways BOAC Livery 747

August 25, 2019 is shaping up to be a special day on British Airways, including the chance to catch 747-400s on six domestic flights.

It was on August 25, 1919 that Aircraft Transport and Travel Limited (AT&T), a forerunner to British Airways, launched the world’s “first daily international scheduled air service” between London and Paris.

As one marker of its 100th birthday, British Airways plans many special festivities that day. Looking at schedules, the following flights are slated for 747 service on August 25th:

  • BA1326/1327 – London (LHR) – Newcastle (NCL) – London (LHR)
  • BA1386/1391 – London (LHR) – Manchester (MAN) – London (LHR)
  • BA1482/1487 – London (LHR) – Glasgow (GLA) – London (LHR)

All three round-trips overlap in time. Thus, I’d say it s safe guess that we will see all three retro liveries in use, including the BOAC, Landor, and Negus liveries.

All three flights are also SOLD OUT. Perhaps British Airways is blocking seats for now, but these flights are not currently available for purchase.

CONCLUSION

As August draws closer, we will receive more information about the special celebration on August 25th. In the meantime, I don’t think the 747s in the schedule on that date are a fluke. It may be too late to book any of these six flights, but keep an eye on them if you are interested.

Also check out the British Airways Centenary Archive Collection online, a great website that BA had published to commemorate this year-long centennial celebration.
