Review: Air France’s Brand New Business Class Lounge – Paris (CDG)

Matthew Klint Posted onJanuary 22, 2019January 22, 2019 7 Comments

Air France recently unveiled a beautiful new business class lounge in Hall L of Terminal 2E. I had the chance to visit during my last layover in Paris.

I’ve showcased stock photos of the lounge before, but the photos below are all my own. Because the spa in the La Premiere Lounge closed early, I was offered a spa treatment in this new business class lounge. Although it was in a different section of the terminal, I was driven over and did not have to re-clear security.

The lounge is located on the upper level just past the security checkpoint. As you enter the lounge, you’ll be greeted by a moving sign that resembles a glass of champagne.

Air France Business Class Lounge Paris Clarins Spa

Since the purpose of my visit to the lounge was to use the spa, let’s start there. Immediately upon arrival I was ushered into a treatment room and given a 15-minute facial. The lady who performed the facial was chatty and gave me a laundry list of cream recommendations, bluntly stating that my face was too dry. Normally, you can sign up for these treatments on a first-come, first-served basis when you reach the lounge. Advance reservations are not permitted.

Air France Business Class Lounge Seating

This lounge is spread out over one (very) large area with couches and chairs scattered throughout the lounge. Perhaps my visit, on December 23rd, was not a typical Saturday evening, but the lounge was less than 1/4 full. The entire rear half of the lounge was virtually empty.

Air France Business Class VIP Room

The lounge manager saw I was taking pictures and knew I was a La Premiere passenger, so he beckoned me to follow him into a room marked “Private”. The room, he explained, was reserved for top-tier elites (by request) or special VIP guests.

Air France Business Class Lounge Paris Dining

In the center of the lounge is a beautiful dining room called Le Balcon with velvet couches and brass accents. It serves as a place to eat and a cocktail bar in the evening.

Buffets are stationed throughout the lounge with a selection of beverages and hot and cold food items.

At the far end of the lounge is an open kitchen in which a special dish of the day is prepared.

With the exception of the cocktail bar, alcohol is self-serve and champagne (Laurent Perrier) is available.

Air France Business Class Lounge Restrooms + Showers + Saunas

Even more than a facial, I would have loved to use the sauna in this lounge. Sadly, a guest had become ill the day before and vomited in it. Thus, it was quarantined pending sterilization. So much for that idea….

Shower suites and restrooms were also available.

(This is a handicapped shower…they do not all look like this).

Air France Business Class Lounge Quiet Area (Nap Room)

Next to the Clarins Spa was a rest area with chairs designed for napping. Don’t forget to set your alarm if you use one of these!

CONCLUSION

In all honesty, I liked this lounge a lot but liked the decor of the Terminal 2E, Hall M lounge better. The dining area / cocktail bar in the center of this lounge is beautiful. Everything else is just nice. Air France offers excellent lounges in Paris that are worth stopping in at before your flight whether you are flying in business class or simply have SkyTeam elite status. Don’t forget to sign up for a complimentary facial or massage…it is worthwhile.

    Excellent pics. We were very pleasantly surprised by this lounge a few weeks ago.

    Hey I was in the same lounge 8 days after you! I used the exact same shower and they had the exact same carrot quiche! Though sadly when I went the spa and sauna was closed.

    I spent several hours in this lounge on December 30th, prior to boarding my Air France flight to Johannesburg, and it sure didn’t look anything like the above photos! On the Sunday following Christmas the lounge was filled to capacity not only with adults, but with dozens of wailing babies and children who ran helter-skelter around the chairs and sofas. An obviously exasperated AF employee at the service desk said to me “This is supposed to be a lounge, not a nursery.” The whole lounge experience was fairly hellish.

    I thought that the Air France lounge was fabulous!

    * The lounge is huge, and bathed in natural light
    * Free 20 minute spa treatment for all visitors
    * High quality buffet with fresh food
    * Laurent Perrier champagne served
    * Excellent runway views
    * The lounge is well designed and the furniture is high quality

    Someone puked in the sauna 😀

    That may have been the consequence of the fine selection of wines (both the champagne andnthe bordeaux go for about $50/bottle) and spirits.
