Frankfurt to Denver in Lufthansa First Class

Matthew Klint Posted onJanuary 9, 2011November 14, 2023 Leave a Comment

In July 2009, I journeyed to Israel and Egypt with my brother and uncle. My uncle and I traveled together in first class and the trip report below will highlight some of the flights we sampled.

New York to Zürich in Swiss International Air Lines First Class
Zurich to Tel Aviv in EL AL Israel Airlines Business Class
Cairo to Frankfurt in Lufthansa First Class
Frankfurt to Denver in Lufthansa First Class

—

I’ve shared about my experiences in Lufthansa First Class before and will do so again in the weeks to come, but post this brief picture report to share that, at least in my experience, Lufthansa remains consistent–consistently outstanding.

Here’s a brief summary:

  • Impeccable service by the purser pictured below.
  • Addressed by name throughout the flight.
  • As usual, the meat was overcooked. Next time, fish or pasta for me!
  • Pre-arrival “Mexican style” snack was a nice treat, but I was too full to enjoy it (and lost the printed menu).
  • First time on a LH A346—I like the downstairs bathrooms in the economy cabin.

The menu:

Choice of Hors d’oeuvres

Caviar with the traditional Garnishes
Rabbit Terrine coated with Log Cake accompanied by pickled Shallots and Carrot Mayonnaise
Goat Cheese Praline with Beetroot, Horseradish and Walnut Dressing
Triology of Trout – Tartare, Mousse and Jelly – with Cucumber Vinaigrette

Salad or Sorbet

Frisee, Arugula, Romain Lettuce and Radicchio with picked Pumpkin, Bell Pepper, Cherry Tomatoes and fried Oyster Mushrooms served with your Choice of Potato or Orange Mustard Dressing
-or-
Apricot Sorbet upon your Request filled with Champagne

Choice of Main Courses

Rump of Veal with Chive Sauce and Apple Horseradish, creamy Spinach and Caraway Potatoes
Horseradish crusted Catfish with Cream of Pumpkin Seed Oil, Root Vegetables and Parisienne Potatoes
Schultzkrapfen, Dumpling Tyrolean Style with Tomato Fondue and Sage
Charteuse of Guinea Fowl with Basil Froth Sauce, Broccoli, Cocktail Tomato Confit and Herb Gnocchi

Selection of Cheese and Dessert

Mondsee Cheese, Bree, Blue Cheese, Livarot and Morbier garnished with red Radish and Grapes
Kaiserschmarrn, Raisin Omelette cut up into Pieces served with Plum Compote and Vanilla Ice-Cream
Schloss Fuschl Cake
Specialty Dessert Wines

In terms of food, seat, and IFE, many carriers have LH beat. But LH’s ground service and professional in-flight crews are enough to bring me back, time after time, to Lufthansa. There’s just something special about a flight in Lufthansa First.
