An irate passenger got into an argument with a Southwest Airlines flight attendant then struck a member of ground staff on the head. That sent the employee to the hospital and the passenger to jail in another incident of violence at Southwest.
Passenger Strikes Southwest Airlines Employee At Dallas Love Field
32-year-old Arielle Jean Jackson was traveling from Dallas Love (DAL) to New York LaGuardia (LGA) on Saturday. After boarding her flight, she proceeded to the back of the plane. An argument broke out between her and a flight attendant: it is not clear whether the argument was related to mask or what prompted it.
The flight attendant then asked Jackson to leave the plane. Ground staff were brought on to assist. After gathering her belongings, Jackson got into another verbal argument with a ground staff employees and struck her on the head with a closed fist.
The impact was so severe the employee was hospitalized. Dallas Police arrested Jackson and charged her with aggravated assault. She is being held in jail on a $10,000 bond. She faces over $50,000 in fines plus up to four years in jail for her conduct onboard.
Speaking of the injured employee, a Southwest Airlines spokesperson noted:
“Our entire Southwest Family is wishing her a speedy and full recovery as we send our thoughts, prayers, and love to her. Southwest Airlines maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding any type of harassment or assault and fully supports our Employee as we cooperate with local authorities regarding this unacceptable incident.”
What do we make of this incident? Why do so many incidents seem to happen on Southwest Airlines? I’m not going to speculate about what the flight attendant may or may not have said that triggered the passenger, because the physical aggression is not acceptable under any circumstance.
Another day, another horrific incident on Southwest Airlines. Whatever occurred onboard, the passenger now faces a very different life ahead due to her poor choices.
