Passengers watched in bewilderment as a mysterious liquid flowed down the aisle from a rear lavatory on a Spirit Airlines flight to Newark.

Spirit Airlines is the butt of many jokes for its no-frills service onboard and for the raucous clientele it often attracts with its very cheap fares. Fights onboard and on the ground seem to be far more common than on other carriers. Spirit employees can be sassy too…
But even with that, Spirit Airlines planes (all from the Airbus A320 family and all modern with slim-line seats) tend to be clean. After all, without any complimentary service onboard many do not eat or drink, and that 1.) leaves less of a mess and 2.) diminishes demand for the lavatory.
That made a recent Spirit flight from Atlanta (ATL) to Newark (EWR) all the more odd when all of a sudden an unidentified liquid streamed out of one of the rear lavatories and down the aisle. Some passengers gasped while others snickered.
Was it just water? Or was it something else?

Flight 1595 landed in Newark at 5:18 PM. Spirit blamed the issue on “a potable water line connected to a sink in the rear lavatory” and confirmed that maintenance staff met the aircraft at Newark and were able to fix it.
Another reason not to go barefoot on a plane…
