United Airlines Flash Sale: 22,000 Miles Each Way To London

In honor of “Twosday” (today is 2-22-22), United Airlines is slashing the price of its economy class awards to London to 22,000 miles each way when purchased round-trip.

United Airlines London Sale: 22,000 Miles Each Way From USA

The one-day sale is for London only and only applies when purchasing a round-trip ticket for travel originating in the USA.

  • Awards are valid for roundtrip Economy tickets on United and United Express
  • Valid for travel from March 1, 2022 to November 15, 2022
  • Seats are capacity controlled and may not be available on all flights or days
  • Roundtrip tickets are 44,000 miles with taxes/fees of $209 (the bulk of that being a UK departure tax)

A United spokesperson told Live and Let’s Fly, “United operates 22 nonstop flights a day between the U.S. and London—making it easier than ever to see Big Ben strike 2:22 in person.”

The number of daily flights is currently lower, but United plans an expansion this spring, including:

  • Boston (BOS)
    • New daily flight will begin this spring using a Boeing 767-300ER
  • Denver (DEN)
    • Daily flights will resume and a second daily flight will be added using a Boeing 787-9
  • Newark (EWR)
    • A sixth and seventh daily flight will be added using a Boeing 767-300ER
  • San Francisco (SFO)
    • A third daily flight will be added using a Boeing 777-200ER

Once all flights have resumed, United will operate the following flights from London Heathrow:

  • Boston (BOS) – 1 flight
  • Denver (DEN) – 2 flights
  • Chicago (ORD) – 3 flights
  • Houston (IAH) – 2 flight
  • Los Angeles (LAX) – 1 flight
  • Newark (EWR) – 7 flights
  • San Francisco (SFO) – 3 flights
  • Washington Dulles (IAD) – 3 flights

CONCLUSION

Do check the price of revenue tickets before using your miles to ensure you are getting at least 1.5 cents of value for your points once the $209 in taxes/fees are factored in. But for some pricier spring and  summer days, this deal may make a lot of sense.

Crazy how American and Delta both have joint venture partners yet United still dominates London out of all the US carriers. I’m going LAX-LHR and then returning on LHR-DEN in June, can’t wait!
