Free Kingfisher Silver Elite Status = Free Checked Bags on American Airlines

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 28, 2011 1 Comment

Kingfisher Airlines will soon join the OneWorld Alliance and is offering free silver elite status to select MasterCard holders:

To register, you should have an eligible MasterCard (Platinum, World, Titanium Credit Cards or a Premium Debit Card), and you have to plonk the first 6 digits on the Kingfisher website here, to get your upgraded. Titanium and Platinum tiers get Kingfisher KingClub Red tier, but World MasterCard users get KingClub Silver.

If you read my post yesterday on free Hilton HHonors Gold Status, you know that credit cards of a certain type typically start with the same six digits, in this case 549852.

Benefits of Kingfisher silver status include:

  • Personalized baggage tags
  • 1 Upgrade voucher
  • Priority check-in (Domestic Airports only)
  • Excess baggage allowance
  • Domestic Lounge Access(for travel on Kingfisher First / Kingfisher Class)
  • Priority baggage assist
  • Redeem King Miles on Air Boutique ONLINE
  • 15% Tier bonus

More importantly, Kingfisher will be joining OneWorld by the end of Februrary. Presumably, that means silver status on Kingfisher will translate to OneWorld Ruby status, meaning (for example) free checked bags and priority boarding when you fly American Airlines.

Hurry, this deal is only valid through 31 December.

I didn’t receive it, even though I successfully registered on the 28th. I sent a polite email to customer service and recieved no response, then recieved a marketing email from the chairman and sent the same email to his address. I recieved the following reply back from the KingClub customer service, quoting my second email:

    “Dear Mr. Blanchard,

Thank you for writing to King Club – India’s most rewarding frequent flyer programme.

With reference to your email, we wish to inform you that the said offer was only valid for the Guests who are residing in India and have the same address on their King Club Profile. Thus we regret to inform you that you are not eligible for the said offer.

    For further assistance, please contact us anytime on 91 860 266 9000 / 02027293030 (all India local number) / email us at kingclub@flykingfisher.com / FAX us on 91 20 6624 2254.

We thank you for your patronage and look forward to welcoming you aboard Kingfisher Airlines.

    Regards,
    Sunny Bakshi.
    King Club Member Assistance.”

I replied back with a copy of the T&C’s and called BS. Now let’s see what they say.
