50,000 Point Sign Up Offer for American Express Business Gold Rewards Card

Matthew Klint Posted onApril 16, 2013December 9, 2016 2 Comments

UPDATE: Offer has expired.

The American Express 50,000 point sign-up bonus with no annual fee during the first year has returned from hiatus.

Earn three points per dollar on airfare and double points on gas purchases (in the USA). The bonus points will post after $5,000 in minimum spending within three months. There is no annual fee the first year and $175 per year thereafter if you decide to keep the card.

While American Express had not indicated how long this offer will be available, it has characterized it as a “limited time offer” and this offer was good enough for me to sign-up–the targeted 75,000 sign-up offer has not surfaced lately and this certainly beats the 25,000 bonus point offer we’ve seen in a while.

What can I use the 55,000 points for?

A lot.

Here are just four examples–

1. New York – Frankfurt in Singapore Airlines Business Class – 48,875 miles one-way if booked at the saver level online.

Even better, Suites Class is only 57,375 miles one-way if booked at the saver level online.

2. Two r/t economy class tickets from Boston to Dublin using BA Avios – 50,000 miles

4. Six r/t tickets in economy class on BA between Los Angeles and San Francisco for 54,000 Avios.

There are many more examples of great deals and the list of American Express Membership Reward airline transfer partners is extensive:

  • Delta Airlines = 1,000 SkyMiles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • AeroMexico = 1,000 Club Premier Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Air Canada = 1,000 Aeroplan Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Alitalia Airlines = 1,000 MilleMiglia Miles =1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • All Nippon Airways = 1,000 ANA Mileage Club Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • British Airways = 1,000 BA Avios = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Cathay Pacific Airways = 1,000 Asia Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • EL AL Israel Airlines = 20 Matmid Points = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Air France & KLM = 1,000 Flying Blue Award Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Frontier Airlines = 1,000 EarlyReturns Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Hawaiian Airlines = 1,000 HawaiianMiles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Iberia Plus Airlines = 1,000 Avios Points = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • JetBlue Airways = 200 TrueBlue Points = 250 Membership Rewards Points
  • Singapore Airlines = 1,000 KrisFlyer Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Virgin Atlantic = 1,000 Flying Club Miles = 1,000 Membership Rewards Points
  • Virgin America = 100 Elevate points = 200 Membership Rewards Points

Bottom line, AMEX points are valuable to have on hand and this is a good sign-up offer. If your credit will bear it, I would add this card to your wallet in a heartbeat.

Note the offer is not available for anyone who has had an American Express business card that earned Membership Rewards points within the past year.
